ORIGINAL: Kaliko You know...I know it has been suggested in the past to have the ability to "rate" either a posting or a poster. How about rating a certain thread? (Like a thumbs up or something?) This way, no individual poster is being publicly scrutinized, no "Thumbs down" to put down the thread topic or starter. Just a "Thumbs Up" so that the most popular threads will be elevated to the top of whatever list there may be so that these types of questions would have answers? Because to be honest, I'm curious, too. I remember we've tried starting this kind of thing a few times. Pam started a thread awhile back, but it seemed to be mostly more recent threads (save for Tap, Tap, Tap, which I still don't really see what all the fuss is about.) I know we couldn't go back in posting dates and give threads the thumbs up (or could we...?), but I think it would be a nice feature going forward. Perhaps it's been suggested before. i was thinking of this too. Craigslist forums have this feature, and it's abused. i.e., some regulars may neg a post just because they don't like someone. one might say that's democratic. but what i'm saying is, it can be one more layer that can be nice, but also be not so nice. also, i'm in favor of discussing things, esp when you disagree with someone. allowing anonymous negs gives someone an excuse to not engage. i think this is bad, because the best way to learn is to be amongst those who may disagree, and speak up about it.
