I think Breitbart has the right take on this. This will probably become a primary GOP talking point in the next few days. Legal immigrants are suffering with the economy as much as everyone else is. Personally, I think the Hispanic community (specifically those who immigrated here legally or whose parents immigrated legally) will see through this farce and realize that it will only make their economic struggles worse.

I'm happy with this decision. If you were brought here by your parents from another country when you were a child, you had not much choice in the matter. I remember a girl who was brought to the U.S. as a baby, but wasn't a citizen and would be deported to a country which she never even grew up in by her 21st birthday and she was in college. I am sure there a lot of others in her situation and I don't agree they should be deported. :)

Young illegals in this situation through no fault of their own have my deepest sympathy. I'd be all for letting them stay and giving them work permits if there wasn't a job shortage. Unfortunately there is a job shortage, which makes helping these people a very bad idea! Have you ever heard the saying you have to first help yourself before helping anyone else? Right now, the White House should be concentrating on getting Obama re-elected to ensure the health care system in this country at least has some improvement. Now I'm afraid the White House has really blown it by giving all these illegals work permits with so many Americans out of work. I have serious doubts Obama can overcome this. How could the White House be so stupid!

Regardless of a job shortage, I don't see how it's right to try and deport people that have lived in this country since they were children and have grown up as Americans. It is the same as deporting you or any of us to another country because our parents brought us to the United States when we were babies. They wold have very little in common with their original country. The children of illegal immigrants don't deserve to be punished for their parent's doings.

They`ll see as as compassionate.

You cons remember "compassionate conservative........don`t you?

Actually, it`s not pandering at all.

It`s a pretty gutzy move that may cause more political harm than good for President Obama.

Definitely not a play it safe type.

Mitt..........lol............still don`t know what his policy is yet.

If the president was a play-it-safe-type......he wouldn`t have ended DADT,pushed the Israelis for peace or ramped up the war in Afghanistan, helped the Libyans or endorsed gay marriage.

The ones doing the pandering............are the bigots.

Ookie, They should be deported because they are here illegaly. They are not supposed to be here.

Owner59 -> RE: CNN: Obama Decision To Stop Deporting Young Illegals A "Victory" (6/15/2012 7:34:22 PM)

"here illegaly"

Not any more......[:D]

That was easy.......[;)]

It's not as simple as that. If you were brought here by your parents as a baby or a child, then you had not much choice in the matter. You grew up in this country and this became your home. You have little or no ties to your home country. I fail to see how it is right to punish children because their parents brought them to this country.

Obama will find out in November that he was the president, not some king from Kenya.

Ookie, let's see if you can understand this...if you entered the country illegally, you are not a citizen,no matter if you are 5 days old or 50 years old.Far too many illegals see the U.S. as theirs, instead of the map below they need to understand.

For the Hispanics who are voting.....it is their`s.

Keep that in mind.

They may be illegal, but they did not choose to come into this country illegally. And how do you know that far too many illegals see the U.S. as theirs?

The RCP headline is misleading. When you listen to the video, it's clear that the reporter is referring to immigrants' celebrating what they see as a victory, not pronouncing his own, much less all of CNN's, viewpoint.

Surely you're not suggesting that people should read and understand media before they post them???

and yet.. the only difference between legal immigrant entrepreneurs and illegal ones is a piece of paper.. 40-percent-of-fortune-500-companies-founded-by-immigrants-or-their-children

I'm a successful entrepreneur but might get deported

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-0615-immigrant-business-20120615,0,3694166.story

A five-foot robot sits in Jon Wheatley's chair during most U.S. investor presentations, listening, speaking, and watching the meeting as Wheatley maneuvers it from a laptop in London. The shtick draws attention to Wheatley and his company, social media Web site DailyBooth.com, but the robot (provided by one of his investors) serves a purpose: Wheatley cannot set foot in the United States.
The 22-year-old Brit's deportation came from an innocent mistake. When immigration officials pulled him aside during a three-month trip to Silicon Valley last summer, he mentioned he might talk to an attorney about trying to get a visa to stay and build his company there.
Officials deported him, quashing his immigration plans. Wheatley now works nights to match U.S. business hours while his American cofounder, Ryan Amos, runs the Mountain View, Calif., company. "I'm completely bummed out about it," says Wheatley. "It's something we really shouldn't have to be dealing with."

Want to create jobs? Import entrepreneurs

Oh never mind.........

punisher440 -> RE: CNN: Obama Decision To Stop Deporting Young Illegals A "Victory" (6/15/2012 9:01:00 PM)

I've worked from south Texas to Chicago and have been around far too many working construction/demo jobs.If you can find one that speaks passible English, ask them. The majority will tell you they know that a large part of the U.S. from Texas west to California was stolen from them and they see nothing wrong by coming here illegally. They are taught this and firmly believe it.But instead you want to say they have done nothing wrong when they most definitely have broken the laws of our country.I have no,zero, nada problems with an immigrant coming here on a visa but I have no pity for the illegal ones.If they have a problem with living in Mexico, they need to stay there and fix it,not come here and add to ours.

I have a friend that found out a illegal Mexican is using his S.S. number to work construction work. When he got mad and reported it,the S.S. office in Little Rock flat out told him they would do nothing to stop the illegal from using his S.S. number. He tried to get another number issued and they told him no.When he asked what happens if the illegal decided to apply for HIS S.S. money if the illegal choose to try getting it....he said he was met with blank faces.Far too many of you that think there is nothing wrong think the illegals are only doing jobs most American can't or won't do are sadily mistaken. And please, don't throw up the tired old lines about who will pick the lettuce, oranges and other produce, they can apply for and get a temporary farm worker visa and once harvest time is over they return to Mexico. And yes,I think the companies that employ these illegals need to be cracked down on so it is not profitable for them to use illegals.

That`s a bigot myth.....to scare the unwashed....

Most folks....aren`t interested in extreme politics or spreading hate fear and loathing.

I think you`re bullshitting.

Most folks......just want to live and raise their families......and aren`t interested in your weird stories.

Still, its pandering.

The Dream Act passed the House and Senate, but failed because of a Republican Filibuster. Anyone who has studied this issue does not favor the mass deportation of highly Americanized young people who have lived in the US the majority of their lives.

The US was built upon immigration, and its what makes America better. Immigrants are hungry, hard working, and ready to contribute.

Pointing the Department of Homeland Security at another target makes sense to me.
