Owner, I like you, I really do. Can you jump off the "idealistic/rose colored glasses mindset", and answer a few questions for me? I am feeling great, because I am reading a predominately Black message board on this issue, and the majority of the people seem to be alarmed, concerned and outraged, and that is comforting. [;)] Questions: In this CURRENT era of having to cut social services, dwindling resources, over-crowded schools, lack of national health care, lack of jobs, etc. is it prudent to increase the number of people competing/ seeking/relying on the resources? Many Black/and non-Black people are alarmed, and rightly so because this new wave of undocumented workers ARE taking many jobs, that people with limited education and skills, and no college degree, that many Black/and non-Black people used to take. I live in Northern Virginia, and many people of Hispanic heritage are currently taking EVERY job that is available, and I do not mean picking vegetables or working in the fields. At some point, we can't have it both ways, can you address these issues for me? Do you really believe in your heart and soul, that we CURRENTLY have an abundance of jobs/opportunities for all the people vying for these positions, social services, health care services, etc? Who should be the citizens that don't get the resources? I mean seriously? Black unemployment is about 20%, do you think as a Black person I am jumping up and down, because soon we will have millions of MORE people competing for the few jobs that are available? As far as I am concerned, many people might as well be prepared to "hang it up", as far as resources/ jobs are concerned, and it is going to be interesting what the disenfranchised "of all races" decide to "do" SOMETHING, about their situation. If/when that day comes, promise me you will not be surprised. Do you live in some parallel universe that I am unaware of, in which there are currently plenty of jobs, opportunities, housing, social services, safety nets, and health care services available to all that need them? I am enjoying reading the comments/ outrage of the over 300 people of color ,that are pissed off and actually understand the ramifications, about what President Obama is proposing. When you finish feeling good about yourself, please tell me what you are proposing to "assist" those that are currently falling through the cracks and struggling? Should we just fucking disappear or die and decrease the ever fucking growing surplus population? WTF and Thank you

Well,the Native Americans were here before them,should we just give it back to them?If that's the case,I need to decide what to do here..since I'm an 1/8th Choctaw.We bought a big chunk from France,should we give that back too? What so many don't want to admit,Spain was in control of Mexico when much of the southwest was claimed and since the U.S. fought and won the territory in war,should we just give it back?And if so,who to,Spain or Mexico? I'm not saying the U.S. government has done a bang up job running the country...but it sure beats how Mexico is ran.

But again, with REAL unemployment about 15%, and the economy stagnant at best, I must say WTF? Maybe, the goal is to get unemployment to rise until it is about 25-50%. [sm=idea.gif]

This president has deported more illegals than any before. All he`s doing here,is giving kids....who grew up here....a chance to get legal. It`s not going to take jobs away.....they are already here and have jobs. Not sure that creating job openings through deportation is all that affective,but if it were,our president is creating more jobs that way then bush or Clinton or Reagan. I`d love to see any evidence where blacks are eager to pick lettuce or dig ditches or nail roofing. Same for whites or asians. Of course his critics are going to claim doom and gloom,and bring up usual hog-wash that always comes up. My points on this thread were not to argue about immigration but to counter the hog-wash....like that this is "pandering". When republicans declared amnesty in past years....was that pandering?Now.... they`re frightened and being ugly and mean. The president`s done a pretty good job of securing the border as well as being fair to people and to the American dream. Most folks don`t know it yet but immigration is the solution,not the problem.To our economic wows and to our social wows. I like you too,btw.You`re thoughtful and sincere

Owner, answer the direct question I asked, I suggest you copy and paste it, than answer it. I have no idea what it is like in dirty Jersey, but here Hispanics work EVERY job: banking, fast food restaurants, fine dining restaurants, movie theaters, post office, government, health clubs, gas stations, every retail store, grocery stores, landscaping, they or their children work every single job. I live about 20 minutes from DC, and nobody around here is working in the fields, sharecropping, or picking vegetables. thank you

Let`s not target one race because times are bad.Or blame them for 50% black unemployment. . It`s not going to help anybody. Illegal immigration is at an all time low. That`s not why the black community suffers disproportionally more social ills than other ethnic groups.

Marini,you will never get some to realize that now isn't 20 or 30 years ago when the only jobs the illegals were doing were picking fruits and vegetables.Like you and me both know,the illegals are filling jobs that could and should be filled by Americans and all of the money from those paychecks would be spend here in the U.S. instead of being wired to Mexico every payday via Western Union.

Up rooting families that have layed roots and invested in their communities?

Most of these illegals already have jobs. They go to school. When the Senate voted on the Dream Act, they got 55 votes, including a few Republican votes...but it was filibustered. So the Dream Act died, just like everything else a handful of Republicans don't want to see passed, which is almost everything the past 2 years. This move by President Obama simply does a small portion of what the Dream Act would have done had the Republicans not been so filibuster-happy. Talk about abuse of power!! The current Senate uses the filibuster more than any other in history.

Most conservatives fail to understand that being an American is more than just 'profits, living high on the hog, and NASCAR'. In fact, I find most illegal immigrants display a deeper wish work, study and live in the USA. They dont get in trouble with the law, pay taxes (yes, they dont get the 'illegal alien' discount), keep their communities alive and clean, and are more likely to vote Democrat over Republican. Again, how is this a bad thing? Oh, they broke a law? New flash, millions of Americans break laws everyday. Most of them get away with it. And there are plenty of conservatives that speed down the roads, well and over the posted speed limits. Dont see them turning themselves in at the police stations and demanding the maxnium penalty.....do you? We wouldn't want them to be total hypocrits, right?
