Making this a fast reply - as I do not agree in Hall of Fame lists, nor blacklists... I have to ask... (since the other topic has been Modlocked)
It is ok to to kiss ass, but not kick it?  Is there much difference?  Why not treat both threads the same?

To all you complainers on this thread, who the hell forced you to post or participate? If I don't care for a particular thread, I don't participate. So many on here take things so seriously.

Listing someone as being great in your (or anyone's) eyes isn't slander. ;-)

I don't know.  I know of a lot of people who, if they said they thought I was 'great', would make me cringe.

Ohhh..  That's a really good point I hadn't thought of.  Ever have that "friend" you can't get rid of?

I wondered the same thing, since I received my first Moderator-smackdown from launching the other post.

My opinion is that there shouldn't be anything wrong with saying "so and so is a quality person", even if it means some people will make profiles just to have "someone" say that about them...

First, it's easier to cite the famous celebrities because of their reputation and public exposure.  You can point to Vi's history and library and public classes, or someone's published books, or the committees they have worked on for events and all those other things.

The sucky ones stay in the shadows and are far harder to track to those not intimately involved.

Secondly, "bdsm celebrities" might be admired for certain things but have human fallacies like we all do.  They may also be a drunk, or bipolar, or filling some huge need for power due to insecurities.  The "respected leaders of the community" locally are generally the ones who happen to have been around awhile, volunteered a lot of their time to the scene, and who play with a lot of people.

But anyone active in the local scene in DC can tell you that any famous/well-known player in the scene has at least 3 other famous/well-known people talking about what an asshole they are.

Wait. You mean Jay Wiseman isn't God? Dammit! And the scissors he sold me aren't special? They're just regular old medical safety scissors? Blasphemy!

No need Ron, I will happily nominate you. I think you are very witty, and have a way of cutting through the crap and getting to the real issue...and do it in your own inimitable way.

Others I would nominate...mercnbeth, for common sense, and for being somewhat of an inspiration as to how it should work

Ironbear, for his wisdom and his unique outlook and vast experience (both BDSM & otherwise)

John Warren, of course, for his writing (both BDSM & AD&D-related)

And last but not least Gooddogbenji....just because he is such a good doggie (and damned funny as well)

I would have to agree with this statement and wondered the same thing.  Its much the same attitude that people have when someone voices a positive opinion about something, (say a particular kink) then calls it judging when someone voices a negative opinion on the same issue.
I didnt understand the lock down either.  Its seemed like a discussion of ideas on the pros and cons.  It wasnt at all targeted at anyone, nor did it look like it was meant to be.  Yet the threads that are clearly flaming members on the site go on for pages and pages.

I would have to nominate MoGa.  I have known her in real life for a while and she is a great person.  She has a heart of gold and I am glad to call her my friend.

So far I have not been able to determine the logic or consistency, such that they may be, of the moderators.

I just saw a thread that names "all" the screen names of a supposed player/jerk, followed by several posts that go on to slam that person.  Seems a clear violation, but ...?
