Isolation is an effective sensory deprivation technique. Yes, still have sight, sound and touch. But that is it. Blank walls, no window, perhaps no light. Loneliness, boredom, uncertainty. No sense of time. No contact with outside world. No sensory input except what the person holding you choose to provide. Can be enhanced with restraint, hooding, white noise, sleep dep. A relatively fast technique to break, condition and manipulate. For confirmation, read reports of correctional facility special handling units like Pelican Bay.
