Rodney King dead

I really have no idea why this saddens me so, but it does.

May he RIP.

TNDommeK -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/17/2012 7:10:20 PM)

kalikshama -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/17/2012 7:17:47 PM)

Very traumatic and turbulent historical event. It's not surprising we were affected by it, and his too-soon death.

TNDommeK -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/17/2012 7:38:50 PM)

Oh shit, ok. My A.D.D. kicked in and for some reason thought of Rodney Dangerfield when I read this. Still sad though.

He suffered at the hands of people who were sworn to protect him and all other innocents and civilians - and thus was a living monument that there is something rotten in the police force.

One of my relatives happened to be a witness of excessive police brutality here in The Netherlands against a very drunk alcoholic who, returning home, was only about twenty meters from the safety of his threshold. The older officer was instructing the younger officer in the violence to be applied. It is disgusting to hear about such things.

BurialzZ -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/18/2012 5:24:36 AM)

Good. He was a piece of scum.

TheRyan7 -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/18/2012 5:25:34 AM)

Howd he die?

Even more sad is that he never really beat his demons and never got to really enjoy the money he got from his assault. He proved that the police really could be a corrupt on the street level as well as the management could be, and that organized police brutality was not just a figment of minority minds...

Please explain how you came to that conclusion.

He was a man with demons. We all have them. I am glad mine are not broadcast on national television, every time I battle them.

Nice first post on the forum. Way to make an impression. Keep that up. It'll make you lots of friends.

Aileen1968 -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/18/2012 1:37:05 PM)

He led police on a drunken high speed chase through residential neighborhoods.
He resisted arrest when finally stopped even though the other two people in his car complied ( and amazingly weren't beaten).
While resisting, he struck officers and wouldn't comply to any verbal commands. He withstood a hit from a taser.
He deserved to get his ass beat. He endangered the lives of innocent residents, the others in his car and the police.
I have no sympathy for him.

Found floating in the pool. No indications of any violence, or intruders have been reported. There will be an autopsy.

If he didn't just drown because he got in the water while fucked up, it's probably a natural death of some sort, resulting from the combination of a life of serious drug and alcohol binge behaviors, and the lingering damage of having had his ass beaten like.... well, ... beaten like Rodney King.

Delilya -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/18/2012 8:54:24 PM)

I hope he finds peace.

NuevaVida -> RE: Rodney King dead (6/18/2012 9:16:33 PM)

I have compassion for anyone who has that many unresolved internal demons.

He was here for a purpose. His life served the purpose it was supposed to. I hope he has peace now.

I purposely did not even mention my feelings about the event that brought him "fame", because they have no bearing on the fact that he is dead, after fighting many demons for so many years.

So, the punishment for being a belligerent dickhead and making some really bad bad choices one night should be a life filled with sorrow and a death at a young age huh? Gawd almighty I can not think of anyone I know that would still be alive if that was so.

Glad that you have never done something dumb as fuck and actually lived to regret it.

How about you show me where I said he should have a life of sorrow and a young death. Oh that's right. You can't. You can't because I never said that. I said he deserved to be beat. He did something incredibly stupid and sometimes when someone does something incredibly stupid then yes, they should get their ass kicked.
As for where he was in life...all a direct result of personal choices he made. If his life was shitty and full of demons then it was because of his actions. So no, I don't have sympathy for that. He lost count of how many times he had been arrested and couldn't say how many dui's he had. That's not the type of person I put on pedestals and turn into a martyr.

i agree with Aileen on this one.

he knew right from wrong. he made shitty choices and put innocent people at risk in the process. if he'd stopped when he should have done then he wouldn't have been beaten.

addiction of any sort is hard to beat, however, if you want to you can kick those addictions. as for demons....there are alot of us with them, but not all of us choose a path of self destruction. now if you do that all by yourself them cool, do as you will with your own life. the trouble is though that addiction rarely involves just the one person, and others get dragged along too....family, friends, innocent people they steal off of to feed the habit. the list is endless.

maybe if this guys demons were so desperate that he couldn't stop his addictions, and was unwilling to get help. in which case i think his death is probably a blessing for him, and at least his influence on others has stopped.

i'm not going to make out he deserved anything more than he got, or that his death is a loss for anyone other than his family. his family have my thoughts because he's probably put them through a hell of sorts over the years.

needles

You are right, you did not say that. It did come across like "so what, the motherfucker is dead, who cares?". To me.

And, no matter what he has done, he is someones son and friend and folks love him. I just find the fact that you had to spew such shit on a thread that started with
quote:

I really have no idea why this saddens me so, but it does.

sickening.

So yeah, you did not specifically say what I implied. That doesn't make it any less sickening to me though.

And, since we are showing, please show me where I put him on a pedestal and called him a martyr.
