It seems that all too many of you are confusing grilling with BBQ. For shame, for shame!

BBQ I do off and on, year round. Low and slow. I have yet to do my famous 'rack of ribs' yet this summer but it will happen, no doubt. Pork and chicken are my fav's for BBQ.

Now grilling......a whole nother animal. We grill A LOT. Doesn't take much to toss some charcoals in the Weber and fire it up. Throw in some apple wood chips for flavour. I often cook several meals worth at a time. I can cook nearly anything on the grill. I have a great pan, with lots of little holes, for small stuff. Works great for veggies. Fruity desserts are awesome on the grill. Especially with cheese.

One of these years, when the flagstone terrace is finished, I will begin the stone grill, fireplace, oven.

It is in my world. Green and edible makes it a vegetable. Edible AND smokable....BONUS!

We love the shish kabob.

Everything is subject to get poked by the skewer: onions, peppers, cherry tomatoes, tiny potatoes, pineapple, mushrooms, chicken or lean quality beef.

I use either my own teriyaki sauce or the following simple marinade, which is great for meat or veggies:

Per 1/2 lb meat or veggies:

3 tablespoon (best quality you can afford) olive oil
3 tsp lemon or lime juice
3 cloves garlic, pressed

Get the marinade together and in place before you light the fire for the grill, meat or veg should marinade for at least 30 mins. I've found this is a great simple sauce to keep veggies moist while grilling. And you can add so much to it, depending on how you are going taste wise, soy sauce, italian seasoning, cajun seasoning, whatevah.

Enjoy !!

Well here's hoping you can have another one soon, ash. And the vegan comment was just an arbitrary thing, not much different from the last option; those are good for getting people to talk, and hey, good threads should inspire conversation!

The key for me is having the grill steps away from the kitchen.
