FR - I just heard a story on NPR about Iran and how the citizens in rural areas who only have access to state TV are more supportive of the regime and how those with access to other sources of information and who are educated are more critical.

Too bad we've become so polarized. that's the loss of critical thinking. if you have an open mind, you can be persuaded to see the other side of the argument as valid, whether or not you agree. if your mind is slammed shut, only voices that agree with you are heard. if you only see half the rainbow of people that occupy this planet, its a bland world you live in ....

That's probably a necessary step to convincing yourself that anybody who disagrees with you is wrong, probably evil, and too stupid to be allowed to vote, sadly.

This is wrong understanding. Right wing politics in principle focuses on individual liberty, self regulation and in minimal government involvement. Left wing ideal is a centrally regulated, managed society (nanny state). Individual thinking in the last are not as important. Soviets (extreme left wing) did put right wing out of business. How were advanced thinking skills progressing there?

...agreed except that it is conservative principles that today's right refuses. There just aren't any conservatives let alone with any right wing critical thinking skills in the federal govt. and far too few in any state govt.

And of course as usual, your left wing ideal just repeats recent right wing talking points most of which simply aren't true.

Awwwwwwwww, c'mon Fargle. Watching Beck down at the corner bar with the sound turned off used to be hysterical. A few pints and his silent expressions made it happy hour.
