I've never done the roll call before, mainly b/c my life is so danged exciting I know most of you can't keep up !!

Let's see, my garden on the porch is thriving, despite the high temperatures we've been having. I don't have a large yard here, and the only place with hours of full sun is the front porch, so there you have it. I am growing herbs (basil, rosemary, chives, thyme), The cilantro turned to seed early on, I assume from the heat.

I have two pepper plants in pots, a jalapeno and banana plant. The banana plant is home to a tiny praying mantis !! He is soooo cute.

My asparagus ferns and spider plants have doubled or tripled in size. I will have to give at least one of the ferns away, I just don't have the room.

Part of the porch garden is a long row of amaryllis plants I am trying to bring back. I got these from Himself's mother (she is an expert gardener in Juneau, AK) a few Xmas's back. They bloomed for several years in the winter, then stopped. Now I am feeding the bulbs in the hopes they will bloom again. For annuals I have some white petunias an a red geranium (I love live blooming flowers).

My sub (lamb) and I had plans to meet up at the end of June. He planned to take off work and visit for a couple days, but instead of a trip to see his Mistress, he got a major medical procedure ! The good news is they let him go home the next say and everything seemed normal. The bad news is they don't know what is causing his chest pains.

Himself and I are doing wonderfully well, we make a great team and it just keeps getting better and better. Now, if I could just stop making him eat brown rice, he'd be much happier (he hates the texture.) I think a directive along those lines is coming soon . . .

Cat are well. Still going through major dominance issues, but what else is new?

I'm going to try and upload a pic of the praying mantis.

They really are great looking. This one is a baby, just 1/14inches long I would guess. Only 1/2 " tall. BTW: The pic shows him head down. The long triangular thing at the end of his neck in his head, he has huge eyes on each end, and his head swivels around.

These things can get quite large, up to six inches long. The big ones look scary (to me).

They are very helpful insects to have in the garden, since they are carnivorousness and eat other nasty insects.

at work lately, we've been not quite 'infested' but still 'highly annoyed' by cicadas. and mud daubers.

the tree frogs and toads just are NOT keeping up, dammit...

I haven't heard a lot of cicadas so far this year; I'm not sure if it's not time for them yet, or if it's been too hot and dry. (It's been 95-100 degrees with no rain here all summer).

What is a mud dauber?

When I was down south I loved the June bugs -- now that's one dumb ass bug .

I actually broke my "stump" awhile ago too but it seems to be healing really well and I take it as a good sign that I will be up and mobile again soon. People should learn not to curse me by saying things like "you will never walk again" It only makes me angry enough to want to prove them wrong faster.

Either your doctors are arseholes who are not on your side or they are saying such arseholes things, because they are on your side and know that will motivate you. A potential problem? He is WAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay into me. My first command to teach him will have to be, "Heel." I expect that he will jump into my lap and lick me (non-stop) as soon as I get him home. He will have pallet next to bed and only be allowed "Up, boy" on special occasions.

Seems all of the June bugs came out at the same time this year. Love the matids. Greedy they do not bite. The dammed japanese bettles are out in force this year.
Been watering my tomatoe plants twice a day with all of this heat. They seem to be thriving on it.

Dammed ground hog ate all of my zinia flowers. Next time I seem him he is toast. Will see what he taste like BBQ'ed

Been throwing out a lot of junk I should never have kept. Getting ready for my move.

Nice to see some of the people back on here.
