What made leather attractive rather than them?

I rode in a motorcycle gang and wore leather top to bottom in the 90's, was I a leather and didnt know it? I felt pretty powerful and free back then.

I dont take part in my local scene anymore for a number of reasons, but back in the day( Eightyears isnt long I know but , it is what it is) The most interesting (for me) people in the lifestyle were Leather, the people I respected for their knowledge and willing to give you a chance to learn if you were serious. One Master gave me some excellent advice, and I was hoping to devote more time to it, but he passed away and then I got sick and retreated completely from the "scene" But I still keep in touch with some others.
If I were able to get back into the community actively, I would pursue Leather, why is hard to explain, apart from the structure , the tradition, the community, and the knowledge, it is something I respect
I realise anyone can have the skills, its hard to explain why it speaks to me,I just know it does.
now im self analyzing and lost my train of thought, but theres just my 2 cents:)

Not if you were wearing a "property patch". Probably even less so if you weren't wearing one. Women in 1%er MC's are neither free nor powerful. They're property.

No property patch. I definitely was not owned I was as free as a bird. It was a totally fun time in my life. Loved it.

Wind in my hair, few responsiblities, woooooooooohoooooooo. The whole leather thing was fun too. Total rebel with a smile.

I would say some of all of the above. Add in the beauty of the protocols. That was what really drew Me in.

Nope. No leather fetish beforehand.

It wasn't the BDSM part that hooked Me at first at all. In fact, My sadistic streak didn't kick in until years later.

I'm not so sure I was surprised by anything that is especially termed a protocol. I would have to say that most people, when first starting out, don't really know the difference between a protocol and a ritual. Both can greatly enhance a power dynamic, but rituals are far more personal.

If there was something that was hard for Me to accept, it was this unspoken thing that senior leathermen were always right. They're not. Like anything else in life, that concept can be abused.

Let's see. Apprenticeship. I would tell people to look at their own personality and decide for themselves if they should start as a slave or not. Back in the day, that's how everybody started, but not so much any more. Yes, there is a lot to learn that way if your heart is in it, but if you're just playing a part, don't waste your time. That doesn't mean you become insta-leather. It just means you acquire your education in a different way.

How has leather enhanced My life? It's been fabulous for structure and hierarchy. The bond with other leather folks is amazing. No matter where I go, I have a connection.

That last question is hard to answer. I don't think I would be who I am today without the leather influence in My life. As screwed up as I can be at times, I know I'm better now than I would have been if I hadn't had the people that leather brought into My life. They've taught Me lessons that I can't even measure about Myself, My family, and My community.

No, you weren't. There's a difference between leather that you wear and leather that's in your blood.

No need to worry about writing mistakes here. You're fine.

One of the biggest differences is the distinction in community. BDSM folks can be just fine without that connection, but leather people do not. Part of being leather is about educating others and letting people know that this life really does exist. Yes, it really is possible to live this way.

Unfortunately, I have not. Chicago is still on My list of cities that I really must visit.

Of course, I have had the privilege of meeting several of the folks who have contributed to those archives. Lady D in particular springs to mind. The Southeast was very prominent in My leather education.

Very much an item on My bucket list.
