I rode in a motorcycle gang and wore leather top to bottom in the 90's, was I a leather and didnt know it? I felt pretty powerful and free back then.

No, you weren't. There's a difference between leather that you wear and leather that's in your blood.

Thanks for playing.

Does leather in your blood require the member to be a snarky cunt?
Is that the difference?

GreedyTop -> RE: Coming for the slaughter (7/7/2012 8:49:21 AM)

No, AIleen. chicks that pretend they were in motorcycle GANGS require snark.

Oh, I would never doubt your expertise in the cunt department, Aileen.

Well, if you do get to CHicago, let me know. If it is agreeable to you, I'd be honored to visit the LA&M with you.

(and Chicago... serious SQUEE time!! LOL)

With any kind of luck at all, I'm hoping to be in Chi-Town by Autumn. (Yeah, best time for a Floridian to move north. [;)])

Apologies for the mini-hijack.

I've never found it necessary to defend anyone, especially chatter since I'm usually on the complete opposite end of the opinion spectrum from her. Just curious why there was such a baited answer from lp.

I didn't see LadyPs answer as being a bait answer. more as one that was meant to hopefully shut the pretender down. I hope you and SHorey are well! I've missed you two around here!

edited to add the bit that my damned touchpad erased... GAH!!

Because I don't suffer fools well?

That's the best I've got.

If I say "fucking cunt" the Mods will probably pull the post. [8D]

littlewonder -> RE: Coming for the slaughter (7/7/2012 9:38:10 AM)

I think the biggest difference I've ever seen between leather and the rest of bdsm is hierarchy within a community. I don't see any difference between the protocols and rituals so much. I mean, Master and I are not leather but there are protocols and rituals involved in our relationship and the only hierarchy is between Him and I.

GreedyTop -> RE: Coming for the slaughter (7/7/2012 9:42:15 AM)

I think, and LadyP will correct me if I am wrong, that the rituals are generally personalized things, whereas protocols are more (leather)community wide things.

dammit, I know what I mean, I just don't know how to state it properly.

You did fine. <grin>

GreedyTop -> RE: Coming for the slaughter (7/7/2012 9:46:26 AM)

Thank you. I didnt want to put words in your (or the Leatherfolks) mouth, but that has been my take on it for damned near 20 years,

edited because of the damned cat.. guess which one!!

JeffBC -> RE: Coming for the slaughter (7/7/2012 9:49:29 AM)

I don't know that I have any questions well-formed enough to ask but I'm sure going to be interested reading this thread.

By the way, despite my barely existent contact with BDSM and my almost total lack of knowledge about leather, I DO appreciate leather. It is the leather banner which gave me MAsT and MAsT has been my single largest support structure (outside my own home) as I've explored BDSM. I was particularly pleased that they chose to form MAsT as focused on M/s, not leather -- it was inclusive enough to include me. I saw that as very generous of them. Heck, someone once even told Carol and I we should run for the M/s competition *laughs*.

And that to me, goes back to the hierarchy in a community. Those protocols are tied into that.

LadyPact -> RE: Coming for the slaughter (7/7/2012 9:54:38 AM)

Thanks for the reminder, GT. I damn near forgot.

I don't want people to come away from this thread thinking that I speak for the leather community. I don't. These are just My opinions and perceptions. In no way am I trying to present Myself as some kind of authority on leather. I just want people to have a chance to ask their questions, if they have them, and get some kind of answer to their curiosity.

On another thread, I stated that words should mean something to the people that use them. That's what this thread is about. That word, "leather" means something to Me. I'm just hoping to convey that.

Yes, it was leather that gave you MAsT. Thank you for recognizing that.

As I said, you would correct me *grin* (so, where are those needles and wax????)

LW, I have thoughts on Kana, you and protocols vs. Leather, but I am sleepy and have to work tonight, so other than a few other lighthearted threads, I will attempt to address this more serious stuff later, if you don't mind :)

Not if you were wearing a "property patch". Probably even less so if you weren't wearing one. Women in 1%er MC's are neither free nor powerful. They're property.

Which is the difference between a motorcycle gang and a riding club. Off the top of my head, I don't know of any three patch clubs that accept women, unless they're a women only club. Two patch and single patch clubs are riding clubs, not motorcycle clubs.

GreedyTop -> RE: Coming for the slaughter (7/7/2012 10:15:32 AM)

When was the last time you saw a patch that said ****MG, rather than MC? Hells ANgels MC, Outlaws, MC, Vagos, MC, etc etc etc. Even the CHristian biker groups have MC on their patches.

stupid bint is stupid (and no, Oside, I am NOT talking about you)
