Status: offline 		President Bachar Al Assad is in difficult position. Him stepping down now would be a mistake and an irresponsible act in the situation where "Friends of Syria" organize terror attacks and are ready to install a regime of their liking, not necessarily benefiting the Syrian population as a whole.
Still, he has to do something. Perhaps negotiations with the legitimate opposition (excluding the CIA, and other foreign services armed terrorists, CIA paid Al Qaida) would be appropriate.  I am not sure the last is possible though considering the situation. The US is ready to attack, and the US would do anything to prevent peaceful transition that is not controlled by the Western Block.

If anyone from the "opposition" thinks about comming home.. he would bee dead with in seconds. legitimate opposition has no chance from inside & from the outside he is calling them not legitimate..

PS: if the CIA wanted him gone.. he would be..if the US wanted to attack they (did).. with or without security consel,

I doubt rather seriously that the US is ready to attack,(politically, not militarily) had the US wished to, the timing was perfect when it started and they could have put a coalition together to do so. Much like Lybia, they have no desire to lead the attack in another Middle Eastern Country, the populace would not appreciate the efforts, and it is an ELECTION YEAR!

Elections trump desire to place a US friendly regime in place. Political reality is so much more heavily considered when a sitting President is up for re-election.
