Harbor Freight also has cheap 4-packs of keyed-alike little padlocks, I bought them but found I can use Quick Links for almost all of my lady-securing and I never have to be concerned about keys...or dark...or butterfingers Using Quick Links (small ones, a 3-pack for <$3 at Home Depot, >$1/ea at Loews) to attach wrist cuffs or to attach wrist cuffs to chains my lady's fingers are 100% unable to reach the Quick Link at her wrist to undo herself. One Quick Link tip - you don't need to snug them closed, bad luck can necessitate the use of a tiny wrench or pliers to undo what took only gentle finger-twisting to close. I twist them closed then un-twist them a turn so that they are loose and guaranteed easy to undo...by me...remember, her fingers can't reach them. Think kink! Enjoy!

I didn't know what Quick Links were but I Googled them. I imagine it would take a bit of work to make sure they're all out of reach, but I think the idea has merit. Thanks for the tip!

I have a set of four miniature padlocks. All the locks look identical, as do their keys. I'd like to label them in some way that I can quickly tell which key goes to which lock.

I'm thinking about marking the locks with a drop of enamel paint, different colors for each lock, but matching those colors to their respective keys. But I think the paint will eventually chip, and besides, those keys are awfully tiny. Does anyone have any ideas for a more efficient way of labeling these locks and keys?

I'll second the punch method of marking. Very permanent. Either find someone with a set of number or letter punches, or you could just use a punch from a hardware store to make "dots" on the keys and locks. No dots, one dot, two dots, three dots on the four separate lock/key sets. Putting the dots on the keys is obvious. On the locks, either next to the key hole, or on top in the middle between the two parts of the shackle part. I'd probably mark both sides on the keys and both top and bottom of the lock bodies.

I totally second the quick links. They are easy to use (and backing off a turn is always a good idea), and very versatile. Many also have a load rating (and usually much higher than same sized carabener), so if you pay attention to which ones you're buying, they can also be used for suspensions.
