Status: offline 		I saw an interview this morning, with a lady who had her 2 kids there, and a gentleman who had helped her get out of the theater. He was shot in the leg, I believe.

Seeing her choke up, and seeing the looks on both of their faces, as they discussed it, so raw and fresh in their minds, that really got to me.

I really wish there was something that I could do to ease their pain, but, there is not, so, I offer them my thoughts and prayers here.

One mom, mother of the gal who was working to become a sports announcer I believe, mentioned that her daughter had survived a mass shooting like this not long ago, I believe in Toronto. Somehow, I feel worse for her, as a mom, having gone through this twice, and now losing her kid.

That's all I have, ramblings. I hope the survivors and families can find a moment of peace in the days to come, somehow, manage to smile, and just remember to keep breathing in and out.

Status: offline 		Yes Justa, This is the infomation from local news..Jordan Ghawi said on his website that a man who was with his sister at the theater described the chaos, saying he and Jessica Ghawi dropped to take cover when the gunman first started shooting. Jessica Ghawi was shot in the leg, her brother wrote, describing details relayed to him by a man identified on the blog only as a mutual friend named Brent.

The man was then shot, but he continued attending to Jessica Ghawi's wound before he realized she had stopped screaming, Jordan Ghawi stated. The man said Jessica Ghawi had been shot in the head.

Jessica Ghawi, 24, moved to Denver from Texas about a year ago and friends and colleagues described her as outgoing, smart and witty.

Ghawi blogged at length about surviving the Eaton Centre mall shooting in Toronto that killed two people and sent several others to the hospital.

Jessica Ghawi wrote of the Toronto shooting: “I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders' faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don't know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath.”

My daughter was working at the Eaton center, the day of the shooting in toronto, back in June, that was bad enough, then we had another one a week ago where 2 were killed and 19 injured way to close to my home for comfort...Reading about this lady horrified me, along with the rest of the information from Colorado.
Its been hugely emotional draining and yes I admit Ive been angry, but mostly just so incredibly sad for all the people hurting.

Status: offline 		According to the latest newscast, the young mom with the six year old, has still not been told that her daughter has passed away. I think it would seriously kill me if something happened to my kids.....I can't imagine the world without them in it. Unfortunately, this is a new reality that a lot of people now face.

I don't see where she said they had to come from anyone's approved list of emotional responses. You'll note that I began by asking about the aspect of this which is still in progress.

Status: offline 		Ever since 9/11 I haven't been able to look at the news the same way when such a horrific tragedy happens. I get panic and anxiety attacks that are severe. My heart and prayers goes out to those who lost loved ones, and to those injured. All those affected by this will be needing counseling and some, physio for life. No one will ever get down to the full truth of the matter, regardless.

Then, I watched a video about a dog who, 5 months after his owner was killed, still waits every day, looking for him to come home.

And, I balled like a baby.

same here the gdmf coward shoots a bunch of helpless people and then when someone who can fight back shows up, namely the police he throws down his weapon and it's see how great I am I killed all those people and booby traped my house why don't you go get killed trying to defuse it. Iran couldn't come up with something bad enough for this guy. Not taking any political stand this guy just infuriats me.

I can't pull up a citation at the moment but I remember reading not long after 9/11 that the more news coverage you watched the more you were likely to suffer emotional distress. I was certainly glued to the TV initially then left for a cat and housesitting gig where there was either no CNN or I chose to not watch TV. I remember it was really really quiet - I was up on a mountain at the end of the road and there were no planes flying overhead. My brain very much needed the quiet.

I already suffered from clinical depression when 9/11 happened. I was glued to the TV for 2 wks non stop, no sleep. Then the panic and anxiety attacks started, or got worse than before. I still have nightmares after all these years of seeing a man and woman holding hands and jumping out of one of the top windows. It's like a train wreck, you don't want to see it, but you still look.
