We had been planning to see the film with my folks this afternoon, but they have backed out. Dad has decided he isn't going to see it at all. It's nothing to do with security worries, but recent events have killed his taste for it.

We are still going, and still breaking the usual rule about opening weekend.

What are your thoughts on the connection between the film, and the attack in Colorado? Has anyone else changed their minds about seeing it? Will anyone who wouldn't have bothered, now see it in a tribute to the victims?

It's just a movie. I'll see it eventually.

Friends that have seen it say it's quite good.

Actually, my girlfriend's parents have said that they aren't going to see it because of the same reason.
I want to see it eventually, but I guess I have no real desire to see it in the theater- I've watched quite a few movies this summer already, and I'm not the biggest movie buff to begin with.

I doubt many people would see it in tribute to the victims... but that's pure speculation. I know, if asked to watch the movie in a tribute, I would be a little confused. A memorial service or moment of silence, maybe, but going to entertain myself for a few hours specifically as reverence to people who died leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I know I'd both not be able to enjoy the movie and not be able to focus on the people who died. The purpose is entirely defeated.

I'm off school now for a few weeks and was wondering what to do with myself. Thought about going to a movie, and then thought of this one, and just as quickly threw it out of my head as thinking of seeing it turned my stomach. I just have no desire to see it now. I don't know if that will change or not, but for the time being I want to be nowhere near it - I just feel an ache in my heart. I can't be entertained by this movie right now.

Rich knowing the American publics appetite for violence and voyeurism I think more people will be buying tickets because of the Colorado incident.

I went to see this movie last night.

I've seen the other two movies in the series, and made plans prior to the shooting to see it. Although my heart aches for the victims.. my life did not stop because theirs did. I refuse to let one man who did a horrible thing cause me to live differently.

I have seen the movie during the past hours with a friend in the cinema. It is just a movie. I have seen far better movies. Loud music occasionally has to move the movie forward. There are a lot of illogical things in the movie; I will not be specific so as not to spoil it. There are a couple of (nice) surprises. The ending in the last couple of minutes is good.

Yes, I do think that I paid too much rent for my chair in the cinema. I paid ten euro's. If the price had been two or three euro's, it would have better reflected the quality of the entertainment, I deem.

I was going to see it this weekend, but as someone said this has kind of ruined my taste for it. I still plan to go, but this weekend just didn't seem right. Besides I've already seen my choice for best movie of the summer....The Avengers.

ONE SPOILER TRANSLATED TO ROT13

The only connection I see between the incident and the movie is that the movie is loud and can cover gunshot noises. That and movie theaters which diarm the movie goers make them easy targets for whackjobs. That latter bit has to do more with what Americans perceive as security and is a complex discussion belonging in the politics forum - not the thrust of this post.

I saw the movie Friday night. It was very good if you don't know the origin story of Bane (it is completely different than in the movie;) then again, the entire trilogy is only thinly connected to cannon.

The acting was very well done, as was the cinematography. The directing leaves a little to be desired for two reasons

1) (ROT13'd spoiler) Ongzna va bcra pbzong whfg srryf jebat. Ur vf n perngher bs fgrnygu naq fvyrag whfgvpr, abg n fbyqvre.
2) The Nolan Brothers didn't reign in the sound editor so it goes from tiny whispers to giant explosions and very loud gunfire. The effect is disconcerting and detracts from the whole.

If you are a hardcore fan of the comic books you will not enjoy this film: some of the character back story is every bit as jarring as Greedo shooting first. If, however, you are like me and have never read the comics it is quite entertaining. There were a few minor plot points that I didn't like and there was the, what I consider, very silly issue of (ROT13) Xvyyvat Oehpr Jnlar.

Nitpicking aside: very enjoyable, I found it far better than The Avengers.

I would see the film. I liked the earlier Christoper Nolan movie. And I've heard it's very good.

But. Curious, I watched the trailer(s), and it just seems a very dark film, and not to my taste.

I think I'll pass.

Even though we were deprived of the normal extra elbow room we get by typically avoiding opening weekends, this film was riveting. It didn't feel like a 3 hour movie. Where the Avengers was a great comic book movie, this was a meatier, darker, graphic novel of a film, and a fitting conclusion to a great trilogy.

It has certain contemporary political overtones about it, and I actually wouldn't be surprised to see some elements of our US media trying to play up a backlash against the film, to minimize the spread of those ideas, in a highly charged political season.

Saw it this weekend, but just because the kidlets are big fans. The acting was good, but I'm not a bif fan of movies that have an entirely unlikely premise, and there were a couple of rather large gaps in the story line.

I don't think the movie had anything to do with the shooting, nut cases will be nut cases, and will make the circumstances fit their twisted delusions.

I'm a Batfan. I'm going to see Batman. I'm not changing the course of the way I live life because of some coward with a gun. It has nothing to do with paying tribute to anyone. I noted their names - they are sitting right next to my computer. I know of the two Alex's. .and John and Jon and all the rest .. I didn't bother to learn the name of the coward. When I look down and see Veronica's name on my little yellow pad, my eyes burn for a second and then I keep typing or clicking or doing whatever I'm doing when I'm sitting at the computer. In time, I'll probably throw that sheet of paper away.. might be in a week or a month.. I'm not sure. I didn't know these people.. but, they were Batfan's, too.. so, for now, they sit by my computer. That's it. Not much.. but it's what I did and what I'm doing and, for me, it's enough.

I haven't seen the movie yet. I have seen the first two and look forward to seeing the third. As to the topic of how dark the series is. It is actually based on the graphic novel series "The Dark Knight". You can wiki it and read up on it if you like. It was noted for it's dark themes, and the artistic style used to depict the charachters and their interactions. If the third is anything close to as good as the second one it will be worth every minute and every dollar. I believe Ledgers interpretation of the joker was not only a more realistic and bizzare take on what a super villian would be like, it also showed off his acting chops by taking him in a direction unlike any other he had played before. It made the entire film more enjoyable.

If I let those incidents keep me from seeing a movie then that idiot has won.

I assumed the killer had a psychotic break and as such there is no reality based connection.

ummm.. if you let an event thousands of miles away affect your life.. what does that say about you?

a tribute to the victims? if you want to give a tribute to the victims then dont become one yourself, live your life as you always have, or would have lived had this crazy not done what he did (or the next crazy, the one after that, etc) ..

I rarely go to movies, i will wait for it to be on tv, but i am not a huge batman fan (although i did like the original tv series.. it was so quirky lol)..
