I delete all messages that I think are retarded. And boy do I get a lot. I delete and go about my day. I don't whine and bitch about it like most.

JanahX -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 9:05:41 AM)

I love the canned answers - theyre awesome! One of the best features about the other side! [sm=cheering.gif]

mcbride -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 9:17:27 AM)

*rolls them back* Greedy, I'll do that. It's not my email, though, and no, NOBODY is compelled to respond to any email. As I mentioned.

Oside Girl, I would suggest that it being a social site, your mortgage analogy is not quite accurate, but point taken.

divi, if you can't deal with the issue, just call it an "insane rant" a few times.

kalikshama, thanks for the civil response. Most appreciated.

I'm done. Most enlightening. Thanks for the learning experience. :)

Here's the thing: Sending an email to a stranger is like being a solicitor knocking on my door. Just because you've knocked, doesn't mean I'm obligated to answer.

Absolutely true, you have no legal obligation. And if the solicitor is a jerk, hey, have at it. If you come to a social site like this one, though, and post a profile, and someone sends a couple of respectful paragraphs, mmmmaybe the tiniest acknowledgment, even if it's "no thanks", starts to seem like a touch of humanity, no?

eerrr...I post stuff all the time on craigslist. If someone send me an email that has nothing to do with what I wrote or is not what I'm seeking, I just delete it. I don't bother responding. Why should I? If I did that I would be here all day unless everyone wants to get a canned reply which really, isn't any better than not responding. Just because someone has an "ad" online, does not mean the person has to reply....no reply is your answer. Simple.

kalikshama -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 9:49:54 AM)

No one responded to my post on my freecycle group saying I'd take the free air conditioner [:(]

TNDommeK -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 10:35:55 AM)

I wonder why it takes so many times for someone to learn things. Like for Me, I look at the number of posting a person has and think, Hmm they might know a bit more about this site than I do being that I only have ___ number of posts to there 10,000. Not saying they are any smarter or know more about what I may want, but I would take into consideration what they had to say.

Some people don't want to learn or accept anything different than what they feel.

Now I'm with everyone else. I used to be just like that guy as far as thinking common courtesy was a must, but then I kinda realized it isn't...and moved on.

GreedyTop -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 10:44:19 AM)

K.. post count doesn't mean shit. Look at my post count. Aside from snark, giggles and the (usually wrong headed) serious comment... well, just sayin...

When I used one of the canned responses yesterday:

[username],

Thanks for writing to me! You sound like a nice person but I'm looking for someone who lives closer.

With regard,

kalikshama

he wrote back to argue that he was not, in fact, too far [8|]

Like we've been saying, it's easier to just ignore.

Exactly. I have been known to get perfectly reasonable emails. I ignore those, too. Saying no, thank you leads to the WHY NOT. Do I owe that person an explanation of WHY I didn't care to carry on a correspondence? I really don't. I don't have to come up with a graceful way of saying, "I hated your picture, you look like a ponce". I don't have to explain that while I am actually happy to hop a plane to see someone I DO like, I wouldn't walk across the street for someone with a whiny entitled attitude. I don't want to get into a long discussion with that ever so mature for his age 30 year old that while he is hotness personified, I do not engage with those young enough to be my children. The list goes on.

McBride, please don't interpret my little rant as my having no kindness in my heart for those who are frustrated. I am a DOMINANT WOMAN, believe me I know about frustration. I did try to help people do better, and if folks are local, I link them up with what's happening, and who to ask for at the munch or party that will make introductions. I cannot and will not be their Cyrano.

On another thread, there's a nice young man who asked a similar question, stuck around for discussion, and followed some good advice. That's a sensible person. He didn't whine, he asked for suggestions. We are not unkind people here, by and large. We do not suffer fools and whiners. If you want to, hats off to you, go at it, report back on your success.

GreedyTop -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 10:50:01 AM)

Hibbie, have I mentioned lately that I absoultely adore you?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 10:59:32 AM)

Why yes, you have!! ~~LOVES YOU BIG~~[:D]

TNDommeK -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 12:22:10 PM)

I see what you're saying but opposed to someone having 2 posts as to someone having
A shit load, it made sense to me. Under certain circumstance, how about that, sounds
Better.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 12:35:38 PM)

For a second there I was o.O at your post, K, but I you're referring to that post count thing! Yeah, I have been here seven years, and the majority of it is blithering with my pals. WHICH IS WHY I AM HERE. Some folks come back under different names, or use certain names for certain kinds of posts. It's just a number.

TNDommeK -> RE: A Small Rant (7/27/2012 4:29:51 PM)

Yea you got a point. I thought about it after Greedy said it also.

AlphaRedWolf -> RE: A Small Rant (7/29/2012 12:36:11 AM)

... Ok wow, I get busy for a few day's and my little pissy moment from me having a horrid week went from me ranting at the small thing, so i didn't break on the big thing. To a really useful learning experience. Where to start.

A) I'm so sorry that I posted this, as I said, I had just been having one of those weeks, and straw that broke the camel's back and all that crap.
B) I'm also glad I posted this, few better ways for a young person to learn than angry people older than him.
C) I am so glad to know that you can hover over the messages, that actually makes me feel a whole lot better about that.
D) I will be reworking my profile, after looking at alot more dom profiles (new to online dating idea hadn't thought of that) and to be a bit more up on who I am
E) I actually decided to start up a fetlife account, and am going to look for one for a few of those TNG groups, (Thanks Kalikshama.)
F) I will probably end up archiving parts of this by other people as a learning experience. (That whole new thing again)

GreedyTop -> RE: A Small Rant (7/29/2012 1:20:36 AM)

YAY!!

Ok, I vote him as a keeper :) He LISTENS and LEARNS!

(FTR, though, I doubt any of the reponses were actually sparked by anger, more some frustration from seeing a familiar complaint AGAIN, and mainly just poking with a stick ;) )

kalikshama -> RE: A Small Rant (7/29/2012 4:44:44 AM)

Agreed, he's a keeper!

UllrsIshtar -> RE: A Small Rant (8/16/2012 1:18:51 AM)

Ok, now I wish I had cut him more slack on his tread in general...

I agree... keeper.

Straighten up and fly right, kid!
