I have not insulted anyone...Romney did not insult anyone...he was insulted. There was a time when the leaders of the UK would be above such pettiness. They would let his words and deeds stand on their own for better or worse.

Flip flop may show his true nature but they are not deserving of the insulting response they received. How would you feel if you were a native of Salt Lake City being called nowhere. He may be an idiot but the response to him is pompous.

You keep saying I am trying to make this an America against the UK…All I am doing is pointing out rude behavior as I see it.

We don't agree ok...but you don't see me calling your politicians or you names.

Butch

You said I have no class, after Theta had said about remembering guidelines. Dont scream like a stuffed pig because I pointed it out.

Romney has no class, behaved with no class, and got called on it. If that gets under your skin blame him for being a dickhead.

As for Salt Lake City, if you think a running the games in a place with under 200,000 inhabitants is the same as a City with 8,200,000 then your as daft as Romney.

Yes and I did not say a word about their personal opinion...I gave mine...we should all have the right to our opinions without being personally attacked. I was talking about the response of their politicians not individuals on the board…until attacked.

Its most unlike you to lie Butch but can I point out you told me to "show some class" in your second post. I had not directed any abuse your way until then. You just got pissy because of my remarks about Romney.

In fairness to Governor Romney (now there's something I never expected to say) . . .

quote:

Fact....He called the leader of the opposition party "Mr Leader"............ Again, shows poor protocol.

I've watched the video twice now, and I can't tell whether Romney used "Mr. Leader" because he'd forgotten Milliband's name. If so, well, that is a mite awkward, but brain lapses happen to all of us. I've certainly had my own. I work part-time as a guide at a historic house here in DC, and I sometimes cringe at what comes out of my mouth. My all-time favorite forgotten-name story, though, came from a professor of mine at the University of Sussex. She recounted how she was trying, as gracefully as possible, to decline a proposal, when she totally blanked on the gentleman's name!

Another possibility, suggested by the center-left blog LabourList, is that Romney was following the congressional practice of calling someone "Mr. Leader" (or Mr. Speaker or Mr. Chairman...).

quote:

Fact.....He made a reference to Anglo Saxon allegiences....... Hardly a good thing in a multiracial society

From what I've read, this was not Romney (who disassociated himself from the comment) but an unamed advisor. I agree that "Anglo-Saxon" was a politically incorrect way of putting it these days, but I get the point that we do share a heritage with Britain and that our roots reach back to Magna Carta, common law, and so forth.

I thought the phrase goes "bleed(ing) like a stuck pig" or (if you weren't using the phrase) I sincerely hope you haven't been stuffing many of the porcine variety, leading to a lot of screaming/squealing Deliverance style!

I thought the same. "Anglo-saxon" can refer as much (or perhaps more) to society as race. As far as I can see Britain still has a distinctive cultural identity tied to its old history even if it is a bit more blurred along mutli-cultural lines today. It wouldn't be racist to say describe Ireland as "celtic" so its hard to see why "anglo-saxon" is implicitly racist.

This is nothing more than extreme political correctness (mixed with a good deal of tribe-level hate and bile) gone completely berserk

Though it is mildly amusing to see this much wild-eyed ballyhooing over literally nothing

Fact....When called on it he flip flopped...... That didnt go down to well

I actually find it hysterically funny that the same people who've spent the last three and a bit years whining about teh Kenyan's bowing and general fawning to evil foreigners who haven't ever earned any respect from Gods own country are trying to make excuses for that one.
Bit of a double standard, what?

John Podhoretz, of Commentary Magazine, tweeted:

"Romney in London. Come on. We needed this. It’s a little comic relief. Kind of like Mr. Bean, only he’s an American."

Newsflash...Mr Bean Is considering suing for deformation of character
