ORIGINAL: Master56RoyJ Ok I can see that in some ways this clan is lax. When it comes to proper respect it is lax but in other places it is formal. I'm confused many are called by their given name which is lax and a little informal ( if you can not call a Master as proper respect would indicate then I will allow you to address me as either REJ or Gene ). I can not understand why text talk is frowned which is informal as not using proper formal address is not followed but text talk is not allowed because any posting must use formal writing, very strange rules since in being formal you use whatever the persons proper address when writing to them and formal writing. Yet when I use a persons first name I write as though they are a friend using shorthand when possible. What clan are you talking about? We don't really *know* each other here for the most part, or have a set of rules beyond those for the site, and guidelines we follow for the forums. If you don't take the time to see how things go in a new place that's on you, since there are ways to do exactly that and you went ahead without taking the time. As far as being lax, I'd say not. Everyone here follows what is expected of them from the site or they would no longer be here. I also see people rigorously uphold the TOS as they are laid out, so once again you don't know what you are talking about. People don't go so much for titles here because they're self-applied, which many of the members were gently telling you. It seems to have flown over your head. Does it make much sense to waltz in somewhere and call yourself something that really only applies to the people you practice it with? Text speak is frowned upon because it is annoying, childish, and inappropriate for the venue. Posting here is NOT TEXTING. This forum is a place of communication, not rapid-fire missives sent in as short a time as possible. In other words, since there is no earthy reason to use text speak, when people insist on using it, then they appear to be lazy. As though the the desire to save a keystroke or two is more important than communicating effectively. *I was also typing as Theta arrived. **Welcome Ray, I hope you can take the suggestions offered here as a guide to having a more successful posting future. Stick around, try not to impose things on people that haven't consented to it and things will be fine. Have fun!
