That could explain it, though I thought addiction to a substance kind of overrides natural impulses such as appetite?

That only becomes an issue when one has to make a choice between food and their high. Limbaugh has enough money where that isn't a concern.

You know, amphetamines and coke are known to reduce the appetite, hence they are so popular with models. Keith Richards possibly was never in a position where it was food or drugs... A lot of drugs suppress the appetite, remember people getting hooked on those nifty little pills that reduce your appetite?

Not exactly. The reason certain substances work is because of the chemical reaction in the brain. The chemical flow that produces the high is the same stuff that cuts off the hydration and appetite sensors. Not all that dissimilar from the endorphin high that BDSM folks get. Very much the same a runner's high.

Well, I can beat all that. My employer a bank, never asked for a drug test! They wanted me Fingerprinted instead. I thought it was standard practice to ask for a drug test.

You know the great "War on Drugs" and all.

All they wanted was my fingerprints. I could be dropping acid, snorting coke or shooting heroin for all they know

Yeah but, in the current police state....unlikely....chances of you dropping acid and staying inside and eating donuts....pretty damned small.

After your rants regarding being let off and not finding new work, I'm glad to hear that this seems to be resolved now and you found a job.

It shouldn't be too difficult to figure out why they want fingerprints of somebody who works in a bank and if I remember rightly in IT there, they simply want to make sure that nobody with a criminal record applies, you can fake papers but you can't fake fingerprints and if yours are on record and show you as a criminal, they can eliminate your application straight away. It also might be easier to track you down with the aide of your fingerprints...

As for you being a coke addict or smackhead - highly unlikely, they tend to be extremely skinny to the point of emaciation due to loss of appetite. Of course there are exceptions, Lush Limbaugh was still a disgusting obese blob when he was stoned out of his mind on Vicodin, but then you can argue that he doesn't resemble anything remotely human.

synthetic opioid s (from what I have seen) do not cause the extreme weight loss that natural opioid s do.

SHIT!!!! What can I buy on the street that does!!!!!

(sorry about the dropped letters - apparently my laptop has decided that the letter that is missin is no loner acceptable...)

Easy for you to say.

FR,

Never made it to the recruiter. My car was acting funny and my mechanic says the engine is sludged. Which also happened in 2008 - it was rebuilt 41,000 miles ago for free from the dealer in Florida as part of a class action lawsuit settlement. My mechanic thinks I can make it to the dealer; I'm not so sure. The dealer is 20 miles away; if I were to get AAA I can only get the 3 mile tow plan until I've had them for two years. I may start a new thread about this.

Sigh.

I would say yes, but honestly I am not sure if that's 100% true! The I-9 is to prove IDENTITY, in order to be hired you need the SSN anyway. But the I-9 is AFTER you're hired anyway...

You can use a passport rather than taking one document from list A and one from list B for I-9. A very high majority of folks using temp agencies don't have one. I don't think I processed one in the two years I did that type of work.

Edited - Going to leave the mistake here for the sake of continuity. It used to be one from list A (ID) one from list B (employment verification) or one from list C (both). They did switch the letters for which list was which at one point, but I'm still used to the old way.

Okay .. I cut and pasted both responses in ... for a reason.

For Your own protection, you should NEVER provide such information.

However, when you are offered a JOB (read: real work with pay), THEN you have to provide this identity.

So Here is my TWO Cents ...

They are requiring you to show this .... so THEY are NOT embarrased, IF their CLIENT offers you a temporary position!

Do you want the work? If so you have to play by their rules .. tuff luck.

Otherwise refuse, and you will never hear from them again.

Your choice ....

AAA offers 3 plans...the least costs about 40 bucks or so...the most, 150 or less.

The least plan offers about 75 miles towing or so.

All are spectacular deals.

Alas, it varies by state. Your state is bigger than mine.

FR FYI - she grabbed my passport and said that was all she needed.

Thanks again to all who helped!
