So get hysterical about that. The whole horse controversy is so fucking stupid, I can't believe it.

Well, I am off to ride my thousand dollars dressage horse in my four hundred dollar saddle.

Zero gate, with that athlete......every bit of muscle was for forward motion.

Don`t me started on horse or dog racing though.......it can be pretty awful for the animals who don`t win.

thats a little different, imo.. when a horse reaches a level of notoriety and starts winning one, then another, then it almost ceases to be a horse race and becomes almost like watching Rocky.. people cheering for the horse to beat the odds and continue winning, and do something rare..

I am not a big hockey fan but watching the Oilers in the good old days before they were split up was dam amazing too.. since the split, the game of hockey has never been the same, and I never watch it anymore.. now, its.. boring..

There is a huge difference between therapeutic animals and animals used in competitions. The Romney horse has always been a competitive animal; hence the Olympics. Anything Willard had said concerning the horse prior has been a major lie.

Now WAIT A SEC Erie.... Living large and paying almost nothing for it after taxes... IS THERAPEUTIC!

As I said in another thread I don't begrudge
the Romney's their toys. I have no problem
with the tax credit. I will say from a pr
point building a garage with a elevator in
it is cringe inducing. It makes Willard look dense
and arrogant. Not the greatest of combos.

I don't think on the whole the American
people are resentful of the wealthy.
Quite a few wealthy men have made it
to the White House. The Bushs, Kennedy
and the Roosevelts all of whom came from
inherited wealth and elite social positions.

Jackie Kennedy loved to fox hunt and JFK's
advisors worried every time photos of her
hunting came out. But there was never a
big deal made about it or the Kennedy's
fondness for sailing another pastime that
can get pricy and a lot of rich people enjoy.
FDR was elected during the Depression and
poor and working class people loved him.
He was called a traitor to his class because
his some of his policies bugged some rich
assholes.
So why is Willard judged harsher than FDR
or JFK. Gee, could it be some of the things
he espouses like every man for himself
healthcare combined with his Thurston Howell
the Third cluelessness about people
who aren't wealthy live? If the media
and comedians effortlessly lampoon him
as a real life Little Lord Fauntleroy it's
because he's helping them out by giving
them a constant supply of oblivious
fuckwittery. As they say some jokes
write themselves.

Dressage takes skill and discipline from the rider. The horse
is not doing it all. Equine events deserve to be a part
of the Olympics. The horses are extraordinary animals
the very best but the riders aren't chopped
liver either. But the riders are most likely
to be well to do. Unlike swimming or gymnastics
the cost of getting to that level would almost
surely beyond the reach of middle class people.
And a lot of the expense would be in able to
afford a horse that can compete at that level.
You also have to care for that horse. It's
going to need the best vet care, the best
caretakers, etc.

No horse is cheap to keep, as my grandpa
use to say about my horses nothing that
eats that much or shits that big is going to
cheap. But middle class people can own
horses and compete in events. There's
just most likely going to be a ceiling on
how high they can go.

I took riding lessons as a girl, I have ribbons
and cups. I can ride English and Western
and my family has always kept horses.
So you don't have to be a Romney to
participate in dressage or jumping or be
a horseowner. I personally like watching
dressage but I'm horse mad and always
have been.

One of Mayor Bloomburgs daughters use to
compete on the riding circuit I believe.
And there was talk maybe petty that she
was mediocre at best it was the snazzy
horses daddy bought her that accounted
for any success she had. And a excellent
horse and excellent trainers can give a
mediocre rider a boost. But I don't think
even a excellent horse can make a
champion rider at the highest rungs.

Is it really any stupider than the golf controversy, the muslim controversy or the Kenya controversy?

No, but I like to think liberals are smarter, more informed, and have better critical thinking skills than Tea Partiers. Not to mention that all the attention to this nonissue distracts the simple minded (and they vote too) from all the many, many things there are to hate about Romney.

One does not always quote shakespeare, even when one does.

In american politics, one should think of Lighthorse Harry Lee, father to Robt. E.

Yanno, thanks MM, I should have known that, shouldn't I have?

Meh, once more into the Pelican.....

Do not sink to the depths of despair, MM.

I am vermiformously holding a disingenuous position, as my good freinds of another party are always wont to do.

I fucked up, it should have been Dickie.

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!

Way back when I was breeding parrotlets, I was telling a fellow breeder that I was planning on making a few $.

He said "Dude, don't even think that way. If it eats, it's not an investment. It's a hobby. that will save you a lot of stress".

With the exception of a very few elite Tbreds, a horse is a pet, not an investment. Raising them is a hobby, not an occupation.
