DesFIP -> RE: I don't get all the hysteria about the goddamn horse (7/31/2012 8:33:35 AM)

I'm two hours from NYC. In these ex-urbs, the largest source of open land are those acreages owned by horse enthusiasts. Do you really think people would do better to have less greenery, less chlorophyll turning CO2 back into usable air? Because when we give up our horses and sell our homes they turn into housing developments.

My kid does western events, but dressage training makes you a better reiner. It helps the horse also.

I wonder if they get a nice "Greenbelt" tax break by claiming they're ranching for a living?

Did I miss the hysteria and vitriol? When I wanted to post that chart I could only find one thread, and it was locked, so I posted it on another Romney thread, which spanned the Michele Obama outfit thread, which had some horse stuff on it due to the OP.

Now Zimmerman threads, those were excessive!

2) All income should be the same....you earn a buck...you pay X in taxes. No differential between "earned" and "unearned".

90% of my income is called "unearned" income which allows me to pay taxes at between 0 and 19% max. Usually about 14%.

That ain't fair.

Problem solved.

Hahahahahahahaha ... wake me when that one gets passed by the current house.
I'm not saying it's not a good idea. I'm saying you won't find an elected republican of any consequence who will even come close to putting that one down on paper.

I concur...it'll never happen...but it should.

Yep. Let's make sure that the people on unemployment or workers' compensation pay yet another tax on money that was already taxed (when they put it into the system).

Not to mention that both of those programs only pay you a percentage of what your job would pay and they cap at a very low amount (here, anyway). Unemployment caps at something under $400 per week, if I'm not mistaken.

That's just a couple of quick examples of "un-earned income"

Peace and comfort,

Michael

After Andrew Jackson rode his to the White House, people are more careful about these things.

Equine tax credit? Do you mean the increase in the sec 179 deduction? The deduction that helps EVERY SINGLE BUSINESS OWNER THAT OWNS DEPRECIABLE ITEMS??

I learned dressage many years ago, you can certainly compete locally on a shoestring. And yes, it's my opinion that elite equestrians ARE pricks, but that's just personal experience. I still dreamed of being Marion Mould when I was a little girl!!

Going to the Olympics is not for paupers, why is that a surprise for ANYONE? Most other countries actually SUPPORT their Olympic teams, it's America that makes families go without to pay for trainers. How is this Mitt's fault? Isn't it far worse that he's a flip-flopping ninny?

Seriously not bothered about the tax cuts for the horse, more bothered that the wife sold a horse that was lame and doped up to the gills, that he really flipflops on every issue, that he sells himself as a job creator (there is some truth to that, only the jobs he created were not in the US but in Bangladesh and China) and that he's lacking any empathy, as he's shown over and over again http://www.upworthy.com/watching-romney-ignore-this-dying-mans-plea-is-really-upsetting

Moonhead -> RE: I don't get all the hysteria about the goddamn horse (8/2/2012 6:38:57 AM)

Well, at least he didn't eat the horse: that'd really upset the neocons, wouldn't it?

Iamsemisweet -> RE: I don't get all the hysteria about the goddamn horse (8/2/2012 7:35:28 AM)

My point exactly. Personally, I find their interest in horses and dressage the most likable thing about the Romneys.

That would have bothered me more if the story har actually been true but It
has been vshown that Ann didn't really have anything to do with it and that is why she was dropped from the suit.

Owner59 -> RE: I don't get all the hysteria about the goddamn horse (8/2/2012 8:10:33 AM)

The story really isn`t about horses but about shaping one`s image. It`s could be fox hunting or whatever.

Mitt, even with all his "success" has this way of wanting to brag and then seems out of touch .

When asked if he liked NASCAR,Mr.Smartypants said he doesn`t watch but also had to mention he has friends who`re race-car owners.....

When asked about the London games,Mr.Gotta-boast should have just said nice things about his hosts.Instead,Mr. Olympics starts chattering off what he`s read in the main stream media.

If he was really in touch, with it and informed,he would have known the problems at the London games were solved.

It could have been an awesome chance to compliment and charm our closest ally in the world.Instead Mitt blew it.And then compounded everything with how he(didn`t) handled it.

Mittens better hope there`s no pics of him with a black velvet riding helmet......it would confirm his metro-sexuality.....even for average republicans......

Yesh, even St. Wrinklemeat as fuckin senile as he was got that, he went from his riding johdpurs and fox hunting hat and cravat to a makeover for the camera of woodchopping and kmart cowboy shirts and beatup cowboy hat.

(none of which he really did for other than the photo ops)

There were a few shitty westerns in the '50s, surely?

mnottertail -> RE: I don't get all the hysteria about the goddamn horse (8/2/2012 10:19:38 AM)

He was busy with Bonzo, and Bonzo who was the straight man in the team didn't like  horses, nor horses asses and thats why they broke it off.

Moonhead -> RE: I don't get all the hysteria about the goddamn horse (8/2/2012 12:22:00 PM)

I think him and Bonzo had words after it turned out that Saint Deficit wasn't at good as shooting through the rope at a hanging as Clint Eastwood...
