The simplisitic "gottcha" games posted here everyday, in threads and as threads.

I mean (only as ONE glaring example), two guys are arguing over whether WBC is liberal or not. WTF? They're assholes. Who cares what color? They're hardly representative.

But that goes on here day in and day out.

I posted my position as a "leftist" here not long ago, knowing that a whole bunch of leftists would disagree with me, as I strongly favor global trade, and find progressive reactions on many positions too extreme (even when I might agree at the heart of the matter). That doesn't stop pointless responses--pointless because they don't advance any discussion--like "leftist _____" or "conservative ______."

When you, or me, or anyone else starts pointing this out across the political/stereotyped spectrum, you, and me, and they will have a point. Until, it's just more of the same "gottcha" bullshit.

Why must you lump all of us with the fanatics. Do you really believe the millions and millions of everyday people of religion in America worthy of your distain?

I don’t know how many threads I have seen you point out and condemn those that lump the majority of people in a group according to a small radical minority.

I am just as disgusted as you with the actions of the radical elements in Christianity but I understand they do not represent me and my neighbors and we don’t deserve to be lumped with them.

Are you going to claim that most religions preach tolerance and acceptance of people who belong to other religions?

No, actually. I stand by my statement that there's a segment of non-believers that are just as sanctimonious as any "believer". They won't stop until ALL people reject any kind of higher power. No. It's not different and as long as I keep getting lumped in with asshole "Christians", I'll keep calling God haters anything I please.

Your example of atheist homophobes didn't provide any atheistic justification for their prejudice, just the utterly generic "gays make me sick" drivel that most gay bashers come out with in one form or another.
As you don't seem to have understood my point: religious gaybashers are fond of citing a couple of lines of Leviticus to justify themselves. I asked if you could demonstrate an atheist equivalent of that, and you've completely failed to do so.

Actually it would be the members of the church who are feeding the campaign funds. Now I am a member of the church and while it is tax free church, I still pay taxes. Are you implying that I shouldn't be able to donate money to a political campaing because I am a member of a tax free church? What about my liberal minister? He works for the church and yet he also has to pay tax on his income? Is he allowed to donate his money to anyone?
