No, I want an example of atheists using atheist philosophy to bash gays.
It looks like I'm not the only one with a selective reading problem.

Sorry moon, I haven't read the athiest philosophy. Maybe you could provide a link so I can look it up.[8D]

Rich's original point was that atheists are just as homophobic as godbotherers.
I pointed out that atheists at least can't cite a book that was written during the bronze age as a justification for their irrational prejudices.
It's down to you to provide a link to an atheist philosophy that justifies gay bashing, not me.

I wasn't responding to Rich, I was responding to you when you said "I'm buggered if I can think of another excuse that's as widely used as "God hates fags" though"

Now as I said in my last post I have never heard of the athiest philosophy so if you want example of it, you are going to have to provide a link to it. Until then I am going to have to keep believing there is none and you have made it up in your head.

Have you never heard of google?
Why are you posting about athiesm if you know nothing about it?

If you can't demonstrate an example of an atheist justification for loathing homosexuals, why are you arguing with me that there is too one?
That's almost a gnostic line to take...

Not the bronze age, but -

Seems to me that homosexuality is impliedly disfavored within the context of On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life, Darwin. A text most assuredly claimed by Atheist, often cited, and a foundational source within Atheism's worldview. Now Darwin does not justify bashing of any sort. But neither does the Bible. But it does seem to me that Darwin does support even atheists "irrational prejudices".

Now many atheists shall take issue with this, making claim as to this or that concerning my supposed misapplication of Darwin to the question at hand. Agenda driven I'd suppose.

And one who made a point of not bringing God's role into his book, whatever Richard Dawkins believes.
I don't recall any gay bashing in Darwin's treatise either, come to that. Maybe Yachtie can provide a citation for that one.

Nor am I surprised you totally ignored FDD's links. Ignoring anything that disagrees with your rants seems to be sop with you.

The long and short of it-- on 8/1 (the day Mike Huckabee wants Chick-Fil-A supporters to patronize the restaurant) go to Chick-Fil-A. Ask for a large water and nothing else. See if they adhere to Proverbs 25:21 and give it to you. If they do, yay! You took a few cents from their hate fund! If they don't, well...I guess they're proving their principals aren't so "biblical."

If you're in, pass the word on, please. #Proverbs2521

Heh ... not that I bothered signing any petition on this one. But you have to really be scraping for neurons to think that it's more lemming-like to do a couple of clicks in the midst of one's day, than to get in the car drive down to a greasy spoon, pay your own money, and get hassled by some asshole rent-a-cop or even worse a detail cop, and on top of that eat something that is only marginally safer than walking off a cliff.

I am tired of the bigotry label being hoisted upon people simply because they disagree upon the political definition of the word marriage as it pertains to homosexual couples. People of deep abiding Faith, who hold no rancor or malice toward homosexuals are being labeled haters and bigots simply for giving money to political causes which oppose the agenda of "Gay" marriage. And its not just the billions of people of faith that oppose allowing the marriage of homosexual couples, it seems millions of secular, agnostic and atheistic communists oppose it as well.

Okay, so let's kick the word marriage out of it for a minute. Do you think it's okay for people to deny a same sex couple the same rights to say, spousal dependency under medical insurance? Do you think that a gay partner should be prevented from making medical decisions for their partner? Do you think that a person who has all the other qualities of a spouse other than sexual differentiation should be denied inheritance of the worldly goods chattel and property of the decedent?
Cause that's what I'M tired of... the phony title of totalitarian or socialist FOISTED upon me because I happen to look further than a fucking bouquet being tossed.
BTW - if it's 'billions" .. really? Like how many 'billions' 1? 3? 6? Where'd you get those figures from. Or is this just a "Well there's a billion Catholics, a billion Muslims, ....." thing. I'm not accusing you of having had some fun with the actuaries here, I've just never seen any evidence it's being tracked like that.

The Secular Case Against Gay Marriage

Two things struck me as I looked at your link:

-- The bold article summary says, "Homosexual relationships do nothing to serve the state interest of propagating society, so there is no reason to grant them the costly benefits of marriage."

-- Later in the article, the author finesses things a bit: "A small minority of married couples are infertile. However, excluding sterile couples from marriage, in all but the most obvious cases such as those of blood relatives, would be costly. Few people who are sterile know it, and fertility tests are too expensive and burdensome to mandate."

That left me wondering what the author would have us do if, as is entirely possible, fertility tests become less costly and burdensome in the future. Deny marriage to infertile straight couples? Even today, moreover, it's obvious that some hetero couples are past child-bearing years. Others know they can't or won't have children for various reasons. Should we allow them to marry?
