Petition: Salvation Army: Stop firing LGBT people!

Greetings:

I am writing to you today to ask the Salvation Army to end employment discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people.

Recently, 26-year-old Danielle Morantez of Burlington, Vermont was fired from her job because she came out as bisexual while expressing concerns about sections of the Salvation Army employee handbook relating to sexual orientation and employment discrimination.

I know your organization does a lot of good work for people in need, but because of your decision to fire Danielle, her family is in a really tough spot.

She was a good employee and was dedicated to the mission of the organization. She did not deserve to be fired because of her sexual orientation. No one should be fired because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender!

Please change your policy immediately, so no one ever has to experience the kind of ugly discrimination Danielle suffered.

Ah yes, another front in the war on Christianity... My question is, if you KNOW the SALVATION ARMY is a religious charity, why the fuck would a bi person take a job with them?

This is just another attack on Christianity by the progressive caucus. I hope the SA tells all you petition signers to fuck off and go read a Bible or something.

Sorry, kalikshama, but they're a lost cause. They've pissed off the trans community pretty much beyond repair: They group trans people with their birth genders. Which means that a woman who was born a man, will be sleeping with and showering with men, with pretty predictable results.

If you work for a church, you can expect to be discriminated against if you don't fit their narrow view of what is correct.
Salvation Army is a church.

If the alternative is going on assistance, you'd be amazed at the shitty jobs people will take. Contrary to popular opinion, the vast majority of people HATE the thought of being on the Dole.

If she were as good as she claims she was, I think she could find a job with the state, or another agency... If there were any chance of legitimacy to this story, why aren't we reading about a discrimination lawsuit, from a credible source?

Ignorance is simply dumbfounding..

I was hired as a Payroll Admin for them in the late 1990's..

The Major's daughter broke into the payroll office and used the "secure" PC to create AOL accounts
(why did she even have Keys to MY office?)

THEN, in doing a little research, I found out the SA is paid multiple tjmes for the same thing:
- Insurance Payments
- Free Employment (aka Rehab Training) they do not pay their "addicts" and don't have to for their work and employment
- Price of Goods Sold (Retail to the public)
- and FREE since it is all donations (Tax Write Off - paid yet again)
- then, to top it all off.. they bundle what can't be sold and either sell it or donate it to 3rd world countries for either yet another profit or further "donation tax write-offs"

ALL PER EACH ADDICT THEY TREAT
(Not to mention the US Gov Grants for food, tax exempt for taxes and utilities, etc.

I've seen and done the books.. I know for a fact!

The Salvation Army is one of the Biggest Scams there are.

My ex-wife "Outed me as a TS" and I was fired as well.
Religious Organizations ARE NOT EXEMPT from EEOC, although CAN refuse to hire based on it.. but NOT FIRE if the employee they hired does a good job.

Just a little insight from another former employee..

I get that the Salvation Army is a church and I think what they did was wrong. What surprises me is where this occurred. Isn't Vermont the most liberal state in the US?

I'm gonna take a job with the DNC and then make a metric shit ton of noise because they won't let me say grace over my food in the cafeteria. That aught to go over like ... well, ... like a fart in church.
 
Why does the left continually need to tear down peoples' beliefs. No one's asking you to share them; just don't piss on the ones that others hold dear. It's pretty fuckin' simple; golden rule and all o' that shit.

Jesus forgave, the Salvation Army does not.  They need to be stripped of their non-profit status.  They are not a religious organization.
