Good Lord. That's what "journalism" has become? It's a parroted book report of a book slanted right from the title.

The Creature From Jekyll Island is a good book from both a historical perspective and how the Fed operates... though I don't agree with what the author advocates as a solution.

The Fox report does go beyond the book, by addressing the current effort to audit the Fed.

I believe Fed lending huge sums of money to selected institutions around the world acting by it own is baloney. Fed is a central bank, and it works together with the Department of Treasury and the White House. 16 trillion can not be created and lent out without the consensus. The current monetary policies are unprecedented. It is an emergency situation, they are fighting the systemic failure. The corruption is not an important issue at this point. Avoidance of the audit is mainly to prevent panic, as things are much worse than the public is told. The Democrats in the Senate are expected to kill the Fed audit bill. The audit would be beneficial to initiate public debate around monetary issues. The current policies are very risky and controversial, they will surely lead to high inflation in near future.

joether -> RE: Fox News Tells The Truth! (8/1/2012 9:09:20 PM)

I find it curious that this FOX News guy doesnt explain things correctly, but as a conspiracy. If you read 'The Creature from Jekyll Island' and understand the events at the time (see the wikipedia.org on the Federal Reserve), the information presented by FOX News is misleading, wrong, and highly inaccurate. In the book, the author explains a concept that was in place book then call 'The Money Trust'. It was basically the concept that if one had lots of money, they could become a senator, representatives, or dare I say.....President! The idea was to stroke fearmongering on the public that had gone through a terrible financial panic in 1907. That only canidates backed with big money wins elections, and the common folk basically get shut out. Sound familiar?

Page 8 of the book explains why these fellows, who representated some big investment companies, got together with the Republican whip of the Senate and one other goverment offical (I honestly forget off the top of my head who it is....).

The best way to explain 'The Money Trust', is like the SuperPACs of today. Why all the secrecy? Do you think the public of now, would give any credibility to a bunch of guys that represent the largest of large SuperPACs of today, stating they have a bill that will destroy the SuperPACs cus its in the best interests of America; would you take their bill seriously? Yeah, thats sort of what the public was like back in 1913. This was explained inthe book on page 10-11.

I only managed to read the first 15 of 48 pages. What FOX News gives for information....sucks. If you wish to read the book, I did find a PDF when I typed in the book's name plus pdf.

The premises in the report are all loaded, begging the question. It's sunk before it starts.

This is hysteria, not news. If there's a real story behind it, it's not anywhere near this report.

What percentage of the public will understand the information once its told them with this audit? That's assuming these folks have studied economics, history, sciences, investing, financing, mathematics and politics (not to mention international politics, economics and finance). That quickly drains down the total number of Americans that will understand the material. The rest will be told sound bites and buzz words that are lacking of good information and heavy on fearmongering. The average, ordinary American will just not understand what is explained and become impatient to 'just the extremely bare bones' content.

If such a system is to be fixed, it should be fixed for reasons that benefit the whole of America, not a few tenths of a percentage point of the wealthy. Most Americans, unfortunately will not understand the bill (if such a thing were to be generated in our gridlocked Congress). This is important, since ignorance could create many future problems. If you go and ask Americans on the street what the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was set up to do; most of them couldnt answer the question. Or ask them in what year it was put into law (2009).

Dude it's the Mayan polar shift thing going down right under our noses. The CNN People field wing nut reports more and more often, and Fux news is now hunting the masons and the Illuminati... it's fucking freaky.
I take back everything I said about Mayans being 'stubby little fucks who can't even craft a decent slingshot'.

I will say this though... One thing hasn't changed... Fellow's cutting political analysis is still every bit as useful as "The Clapper" <tm>

It doesn't appear that the Fed secretly doling out 16 trillion dollars to avoid systemic failure has created any public panic. So if indeed they really are afraid of triggering a panic, then it stands to reason that they're hiding substantially more than these 16 trillion dollars of band-aids to our decaying, corrupt, unsustainable system.

DesideriScuri -> RE: Fox News Tells The Truth! (8/2/2012 4:49:06 AM)

FOX News!! FOX News!! FOX News!!

Ya'all do realize that Ben Swann is an anchor at a FOX affiliate, right? He is employed by FOX 19 out of somewhere in these United States, and not really the FOX News that ya'all demonize?

the real reason the fed exists is for "speculation" and monetary control outside the purview of the government and the people.

Remember these assholes operate in collusion.

They fit the pure elements and definitions of racketeering!

Of course when its the plutocracy its ok, if you do it you get the sandpapered ass treatment.

Dont forget the treasury sec s buddy GW just happened to appoint him because by going from a federal reserve employee to the treas sec would SAVE HIM 50 MILLION ON TAXES.

Thats ok in america we make excuses for our dictators.

No the fed reserve is a private "association" created in "puerto rico". They are a foreign based entity that just happens to be on crown "titled" territory.

Fuck its a small world.

We still have inflation and deflation with the fed and the added benefit of unpayable interest which of course will be extracted by unlawful bailouts and land seizure.

Of course land seizure now days does not kick you off your property but shifts who receives the taxes.

all not known to "we the tards" of america.

No, those folks sadly will be among the least well-informed.

Moonhead -> RE: Fox News Tells The Truth! (8/2/2012 12:37:32 PM)

Well, that's the whole point of believing a conspiracy theory, isn't it?
You don't need to understand anything, or accept any responsibility. You can just blame the conspiracy for everything you don't like...
