Wouldnt be any hurt at all probably, and thats one big reason none of the assclowns that are even being wished about are gonna be elected to anything.

Obama is taking this one on a phone it in.

Signing that bill and pushing those mortgages and telling everybody it was his idea.   They actually have lots and lots of video and print on it.

Romney is Bush on Steroids. MORE military spending, MORE tax cuts, all unfunded.

That's how we got here. That's the plan Greenspan warned was "reckless and irresponsible." Now we want to double down on it? No.

Ask yourself, did the economy tank under the current party's leadership, or under that last one?

Does that last one want to do more of what got us to the tanked economy?

All of them.

Then we're done for. Game's all but over. Only question is, what will the mess look like when the cleanup begins.

Is it really important whether it began under Bush or Obama?

Of course it does, if you are going to keep blaming Obama for the mess the world is in. It has gone tits up world wide, banks are refusing to lend to small businesses. Back in 2008 no one had a clue that the financial crisis would be so deep, or last so long. Some of you on the right are moaning about big government while at the same time moaning about cuts to the armed forces. Cameron, here in the UK has made massive cuts to jobs, and thanks to the debts from 2008 and the interest being paid to finance them, our economy isnt moving, infact its now in a double dip recession.

So yes, unless some of you have a financial answer that will actually work, blaming Obama, and not the original crash, is bullshit.

O ain't gonna fix it. None of them are in my opinion. The only thing I can say about Romney is that perhaps he might be the one idiot to bang out King Lear. Highly doubtful, but O ain't gonna do it.

Besides, much of government is unfunded. It's pay as you go and raise the debt ceiling as needed.

mnottertail -> RE: 8.3% (8/3/2012 4:21:41 PM)

There wont be any cleanup.  The mess is back down to where bush left it in record time, and we would hope (if Europe can hold their shit together) more good news down the road.

Because the chickens are coming home to roost real soon here.

If I was a hardball boy monday if I was Obama I would demand an emergency raising of the debt ceiling in anticipation of September Fed:

See, them boys just went on 5 weeks vacation and left some unfinished business:

The idea is that it is a republican bill that raised the debt ceiling (and are planning 3 stages the second of which they swore old spender Obama was gonna need in a month ) and did it without as they swore would never happen without offsetting cuts. Kicked the cuts down the fuckin road as you might remember it is being done in stages as per the wholly republican plan.
I laughed when this came up, because the elections are november, and of course long about late september or early october the ceiling will be raised again. This either forces the republicans to kick two cans down the road (exploding the fuck out of the deficit, which people are watching) or shut the government down.  They left a big Farm Appropriations bill out there which is gonna up the ante.....

Now you may remember that the last time they were wiggling their dicks about this the american people were not too fucking happy with them, and Obama was relatively unscathed.

They are swimming a shit river a mile wide and swallowing a turd every fucking stroke right now, and I can just about guarentee you the politik will go like this: (not soon enough for my tastes)

Obama, I will send down my 4 billion reduction budget down to the house for the 3rd time, maybe they would like to do some work down there.
Republicans: Why? we wouldnt bring that dogshit proposal up for a vote the last two times, why do it now?
Obama: but you are trying to repeal the PPACA for about the 32nd time.

Who will raise the debt in either case in front of god and everybody one way or another?
Yup. Borrow and spenders.

The Electing man cometh!!!!

Musicmystery -> RE: 8.3% (8/3/2012 4:23:48 PM)

Agreed. It would take ALL of:

1) cutting defense
2) adjusting SS
3) adjusting Medicare/Medicaid
4) cutting discretionary spending (minor compared to the first three)
5) raising taxes.

AND, to do that would absolutely slow the economy further in the short run.

Nobody's gonna campaign on that. Or do it in office. But that's what it would take. Everyone saying different is full of shit.

mnottertail -> RE: 8.3% (8/3/2012 4:25:29 PM)

Of course, (and I am paraphrasing here, but I believe capturing the essence), Obama will have a great deal more freedom, after this election.

Musicmystery -> RE: 8.3% (8/3/2012 4:27:34 PM)

I'm in it to nail down the beginnings of health care and for Supreme Court justices.

And to not fuck it up amazingly worse by pouring money into a military that doesn't want it and slashing taxes for people who don't need it.

If I were President, I'd end the Bush tax cuts tomorrow, all of them, and the Obama/Boehner SS tax cut, and eliminate the Dept. of Homeland Pretending to Do Something.

Then I'd lock the doors on Capitol Hill, and tell them "I don't care what you agree on, but no one's going home until you work together and cut some fucking deals."

The Dicking Around stops here.

mnottertail -> RE: 8.3% (8/3/2012 4:31:46 PM)

I'm for that, and with Obama in you are going to realize those goals, I have other desires and therefore will not vote Obama, same as last time and will not vote for any other assclown with hats in the ring.

But I am sure Obama will take this to town without my meagre 1.

And I am ok with that, as a four year solution.

Pretty much. The adjustment to Medicare/Medicaid would be quite painful as would SS. Defense could be cut a bit without any risk to the country's security. A lot of discretionary spending could go bye bye. Minor in the scheme of things, but the nickles and dimes count too. Raising taxes. That's the hard one as government often does that without the requisite spending cuts. People are tired of that shit.

GDP as a measure of national health must come down to sustainable levels. The size and scope of government must be reduced.

Nobody's gonna campaign on that. Or do it in office.

Yep. We are really screwed.

Ask yourself - if crippling levels of taxation, and practically limitless government spending (and government hiring etc) are so good for an economy, why has the Peoples Republic of California found itself in a sinkhole of epic proportions

Where do you see "crippling levels of taxation" ?
We are still "laboring " under the Bush era tax cuts [8|]

And that is the crippling level, not that they are too high, they are two low, and it is crippling america.

Ain't that the truth !!!
One of Obama's political failures(yes,he has fucked up from time to time in office,this was certainly one of those times)
