Can it be that you confuse slaves or other ilk with genuine submissives? Maybe you belong with the Gor crowd, who also cannot distinguish between genuine submissives and natural slaves nor any other person of the female persuasion? I may well be confused, but I just don't see how your clarification affects my answer. Essentially, I was saying that a "genuine submissive" is whatever a given Dominant thinks it is. The test is in the Dominant's mind (just as the test for what is a "genuine Dominant" is in the submissive's mind). Basically, I hold up whatever notion I have of what a "Dominant" is, and compare a potential Dominant to that standard. A Dominant may take whatever notion they have of what a "submissive" is, and compare me to that standard. We're both seeing if the person in front of us matches the idea we have in our heads. The same thing would apply if we were talking about Masters and slaves. In other words, whether "genuine submissives" love to be humiliated is entirely subjective, and the answer will depend on whether the person answering has a humiliation fetish. Perhaps I should not have answered. I don't know whether I'm really a "genuine submissive" or not. Pam

The issue I addressed was not about loving humiliation. I love to be humiliated in some contexts, and I hate it in others, and I believe many submissives, however genuine in Rule's book, feel the same. Do all subs love to be humiliated? Of course not. But (hello?) equating submission and humiliation is not loving it. It is saying submission and humiliation are equal. In other words, it is saying to be submissive is humiliating in it's own right. And I do not believe that. This is what I mean by humiliate: abase, chasten, cheapen, debase, degrade, demean, discredit, disgrace, dishonor, foul, humble, lower, mortify, shame, sink, smirch, take down. None of those words apply to me. I do not obey, serve and please my dominant out of a place of shame and dishonor. Quite the opposite. I obey serve and please him out of a sense of reverence for the man he is. He does not lower me, I raise him. So I will state again, anyone who thinks being submissive is debasing, degrading, and demeaning is not emotionally healthy. That's a dangerous person, and should be avoided.

Not all ” genuine” submissives have a humiliation fetish. Not all persons with a humiliation fetish are submissive. So, the answer is sometimes they do, and sometimes they do not. Also, some like only a certain level of humiliation, they will respond to it very well until you go too far. It's called a soft limit, kind of like when you allow them to pleasure you until their teeth become annoying and then you command them to stop. [:D]
