.......And if you're cooking is giving people diarrhea, please consider getting new cutting boards, washing your hands more, and tossing out food from the fridge that's a little on the old side. Alternately, cut back on the flax seed oil.

Haaaaa, everything is quite clean, I just use a lot of
herbs & spices some people can't handle it espicaly
the chili powder... I'm a bit lactose intolerant so I
drink soy milk which seems to also save me from
'chili bum' or stomach cramps... A lot of people don't
like soy milk either but it's so much healthier IMO.

Bear with me... I'm getting on the desktop and getting
some pics of my cooking!
stay tuned.

I do the majority of the cooking since I work from home. The half hour he spends driving, I spend cooking. When he got home before me he usually cooked.

I like to cook and can cook but have struggled a little since moving to the USA. I was use to Australian brands & my electric kitchen and now I'm dealing with USA brands and gas kitchen. So, slowly getting there.

Otherwise we go out.

Oh yeah, I know a similar feeling...seriously, I was shocked when I realised how many meals back home I sort of....lost...whilst living in the UK...but due to my work in the UK I got so used to cook UK dishes, that at my last employer I struggled at times with some of our common meals over here...and as I am still adjusting to it I am so freaking glad, that there will be no cooking at my new employer

So who does the cooking in your house?
Does your dinner need to be on the table or theres
trouble?
Do you take turns?
I'm interested to hear how everyone handles it at
their place.

I would say that I'm the general "chef". If it was left up to him we would be eating cheese sandwiches and pickles every night. That is not my idea of a good time.

There is no specific time that we sit down to a meal. If he says that he's starting to feel hungry.. then I start preparing dinner or any other meal for the matter. There is no "or else" because we communicate with each other.

In the past two months... he hasn't cooked at all. If I'm not up to cooking then he will take me out.

On a side note... he has offered some suggestions because I'm learning to cook vegetarian style. It has not been an easy transition, but I'm getting used to it.

If anyone has any favorite vegetarian cookbooks... I'm up for suggestions. :)

Not only do I love to cook, but was fortunate that shortly after my husband and I separated I learned a lot from two boyfriends and a good friend who were professional chefs. Some of this was when I lived on an ashram where I picked up Indian cooking. Part of my responsibilities when I was a volunteer at a small yoga retreat center in Costa Rica was cooking lunch, and I learned a lot from this as well, including how to improvise from the land when the twice weekly food delivery truck failed to show up. Then I met R who was a big fan of Thai cuisine so now I dabble in that as well. My Mexican coworker turned me on to authentic Mexican cuisine.

Since 1999, I've been reading authors such as Michael Pollan and intend that for my next relationship, he preferably shares my food values or if not gives me free rein to buy organic and cook healthily, which to me includes meaning the plate will have a rainbow of colors from different vegetables. I should have known that it wouldn't work with M when at the first meal I cooked him, a Thai chicken stir fry, he picked out all the broccoli and said this was more vegetables than he normally eats in two weeks. (Two months was closer... maybe two years.)

Now that we have transitioned into roommates and I am no longer cooking for him, it irks me to no end to have Wonderbread in my house.

(I have been described as a Food Domme.)

Hey - I think you'd like Korean cooking, too. It has a lot of these kinds of values - it's all about balance. Flavor, heat, spice, color. It's really kind of cool in that way.

I do the cooking, he does the grilling

In the summer, we do a lot of BBQ and he enjoys BBQing. So I do the prep work and cook any side dishes, and he's outside at the Weber.

Otherwise, I do the cooking. I do love cooking, and he seems to like being in the kitchen with me, because he comes in and samples the food, kisses me and gives me little spanks (we've been prone to spontaneously start dancing in the kitchen, too, haha), or starts adding spices while I squawk at him to stop. I love the kitchen, and when he's in it, it adds just the right "spice" haha.

I can't imagine there being trouble around food. We both enjoy preparing it, we both enjoy eating it. But we're pretty relaxed over here, so even while we were still learning each other, and learning to work around each other in the kitchen, it's always been enjoyable.

Presentation of food is important to him, though, and not something I used to pay attention to, so that's been a fun learning curve.

I serve meals and I clean up.

Oh and for what it's worth, he usually decides what he wants to eat, and if it's something new to me, I go figure out how to cook it. This is particularly fun. We've joked about him doing something similar to that "Chopped" show - where I get a list of secret ingredients and have to figure out what to make out of it.

He actually made himself a sandwich today. I was astonished. Usually the most he does is toast if he wakes up at the crack of dawn.

But I rarely wear an apron. Unless I'm kneading dough and even then not always. I'd rather just change my tee shirt then deal with an apron.

You know, it took getting used to at first. It used to make me uptight when he (or anyone) was in "my space" in the kitchen. Then I decided it's cool he wants to be in there with me, and I enjoy it now.

The only problem with food around here is that I can't eat all the things that he likes due to health reasons so I usually end up having to make two meals unless it's something where I can leave out certain ingredients and still make it work for the both of us. And he gets a little frustrated when I don't have snacks or treats in the house because if it's in the house I will eat it and I will never lose the weight I want. Maybe we need a lock on a cabinet or something. lol

I actually love cooking. I also wear aprons because more often than not, I cook right after work and do not want to ruin My clothes. If I have him cook, he has been given a precise menu and directions on how dinner should be prepared. he needs the ingredients and instructions because he simply isn't very skilled in improvising to make a meal, unless it's on the grill. Lately, My eldest child (she's almost 14) has been following the food network, so she prepares our meals when she's inspired. No matter who does the cooking, I have strict guidelines about what types of food we eat and how they are prepared.

We live a Patriarchal lifestyle, and she loves not only to cook, but sew. She is currently making aprons, and has sold a few to friends and coworkers.

My favorite one is the one she wears, sans anything else.
