.. then what? Ok, I am wondering what ya'll expect Obama will do if he wins the election.. what promises has he made (this time or last election) that you expect him to be able to keep? what do you think the next 4 years under his leadership will be like? what effect will his continued leadership have on the economy?

What are your expectations and crystal ball predictions? I really want honest opinions.. [:)]

..and there are enough threads about Romney, I dont wanna talk about him, this is a Romney-free thread, k? [:D]

Yachtie -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 8:54:55 AM)

If Obama wins I expect him to play twice as much golf.

"Wicked slice there Mr. President."
"Who did that? Who sliced that drive? Wasn't me I tell ya!"
"I swear I saw you slice that Sir."
"Someone else did that. I'm going to appoint a Presidential commission to investigate who sliced that damn drive!"

When President Obama is re-elected:

. More whining from disgruntled Whites who, even before his re-election, believe their "rights" and racial "privileges" are being taken from them.
. More unfounded "Birther" claims.
. More unfounded claims from the President of the NRA that federal law enforcement officers will be arriving at any moment to confiscate all firearms.
. More unfounded claims by Republicans of voter fraud (because, after all, anyone who votes for President Obsma's re-election MUST be voting fraudulently)
. Those Republicans who are in the House or Senate will continue to vote against any and all legislation introduced by any House or Senate member who is a Democrat.
. Those Republicans who are in the House or Senate will re-introduce bills killing National Romney care (also called Obamacare) once a month for the 4 years of President Obama's 2nd term.
. Massive gridlock caused by the Republicans - "We had to destroy the United States in order to save it from the commie/socialist/liberal Democrats" (as in the old Vietnam saying, "We had to destroy the village in order to save it".)

Higher gas prices, higher unemployment, unless you want to go to work for the IRS, more mysterious domestic terrorism, and it will still all be Bush's fault. THe unemployment numbers will appear to be dropping because more people will give up. Hillary will be embarassed in some way to prevent her run in 2016.

Depends on how Congress looks. If there's a R majority, he won't get anything done, if there's a D majority, expect 4 more years of government expansion, and outrageous deficit spending.

If he wins, I'll post something nice about him every week for a year.

atursvcMaam -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 10:09:10 AM)

actually if there is an R majority in congress expect a lot of executive order action.

Well outrageous deficit spending is already being covered with balloon payments by the teabagging house, and they call for more and more government expansion daily.

So, I think that itch is going to have to run out.

The safest extrapolation into the future is usually: we will get pretty much the same (QE, bailouts, government borrowing, "jobless recovery"). The external factors will cause some kind of economic crisis during his second term (most global forecasters predict this). Obama is actively preparing for it. Here is how  (Obama executive orders):
EO 10990 allows the Government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports. EO 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels, and minerals. EO 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision EO 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons. EO 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft. EO 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate and establish new locations for populations. EO 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways, and public storage facilities. plus NDAA that allows the military to make "suspected terrorists" or their supporters disappear.

Yeh, wow! Good thing we didn't have any of that deficit spending under Reagan and litttle Bush [8|]

Executive Order 10990
Reestablishing the Federal Safety Council

Signed: February 2, 1962
Federal Register page and date: 27 FR 1065, February 6, 1962
Revokes: EO 10194, December 19, 1950
Superseded by: EO 11612, July 26, 1971

tazzygirl -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 11:24:53 AM)

Obama?

John F Kennedy

Executive Order 10990
February 2, 1962

Executive Order 10997
February 16, 1962

Executive Order 11000
February 16, 1962.

Im sure by now you can see who wrote all these EO's.

Now, considering we have had both parties in as President since Kennedy... its pretty much the status quo.. and approved, repeatedly, by both parties.

Well ok. But we did pretty good expanding govt. and borrowing trillions under the repubs so what's the difference ? Maybe the top 1% won't make 93% of ALL income...ya'think ?

Course he'd be free to start two more wars, 'out' more CIA field agents, preside over TARP II & III, pass a 1/2 trillion drug benefit without paying for it, allow the pentagon to be attacked, use federal law to stop states from trying to protect borrows.

Send the repubs to GITMO, deny them healthcare and their lobbyists, assassinate ANYBODY.

One gets a bit light-headed at the fun we could have...if we all acted like the neocons and the new right but their is still some learning curve yet, the new fascism is a bit new to the left.

Oh don't worry, we WILL make a whole lotta money...our reason for life itself..

Which will still be less than Bush

Kennedy as President again? lmao

Obama as President again?... you are in deep denial.

atursvcMaam -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 11:35:00 AM)

before this comes back as "He's talking smack,' understand that you asked for speculation. In the Carter years there was a "Misery" index as money got tighter, inflation grew, and unemployment rose. all of this will happen, imho. The adaptations currently in place to hide this will fall apart, and the frustration level will increase. the frustration level will tend to push the borderline sane over the edge.
Mr Bush had the luck or intuition to take this hatred, anger and pain and move it overseas. As overseas operations close down, Domestic terrorism seems to be on the rise. Are they related? Who knows. I have spotted and am commenting on an apparent trend.
It would be best if the spin doctors made Mr Obama blameless here, so ignore everything i have said.

joether -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 11:37:39 AM)

.....Depends on Congress.

If the Democrats win back the House and hold onto the Senate, we might find a President whom is less willing to work with Republicans on things. I'm sure he's learned the lesson that Republicans are not trusted, let alone workable on things (like he first thought when he came to office). We'll see a number of things actually get done in Congress. And not just the petty stuff that is currently in gridlock. Oh, and the economy will get better now that Congress is full of stable and sane individuals

If the Republicans win the Senate and hold the House, we can expect several things. One is the Democrats doing pretty much the same stuff Republicans have done in the last three years. Can you say "MORE GRIDLOCK"? An like we see now, they'll be pushing all sort of insane bills at an even higher rate, much of which will not help out the economy or most Americans.

If the Republicans hold the House and Democrats the Senate, we can expect pretty much the same thing as we have now. Republicans doing all in their power to undermine the Federal Goverment and the country while successfully convincing their base they are the 'good guys'.
