actually if there is an R majority in congress expect a lot of executive order action.

If he had the balls to do that, he'd have got stuff done during his first term in office.

atursvcMaam -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 11:49:03 AM)

What? I tried to make it clear that this was entirely speculation. Facts have very limited place in the question or the answers.

subspaceseven -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 11:51:02 AM)

I don't get the higher gas prices...I mean back in fEB WHEN PRICES WHERE GETTING HIGHER THE GOP BLAMED Obama, but when the dropped they said the President had nothing to do with gas prices...

You can't have it both ways

Domestic terrorism????? please explain how this is caused by Obama, and not extreme nuts following whatever it is they choose to follow, are you talking about the person who killed a DR for performing under the law, but against his extreme religious views?????? Are you talking about the people running for elected office using Obama's face for target practice at fundraising events???? Are you talking about conservative elected people saying Obama should be "taken out" Seems more hate crimes have been supported since the black guy got elected....even sarah used targets on Dem states...but then spinned it back

atursvcMaam -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 11:51:12 AM)

Agreed, and if he had the brains he claims to have, then he could have resolved all the issues left to him by Mr Bush

tj444 -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 11:54:42 AM)

Yes, but from what i have read, the domestic terrorism (like the theatre shooting, etc) has not been related to the economy, its been people with mental problems.. that doesnt mean that some people might not commit suicide (& take family with them) due to financial difficulties so in that way those situations possibly related to the economy.. but those would be considered to be "murder-suicides" not "domestic terrorism", i think..

before this comes back as "He's talking smack,' understand that you asked for speculation. In the Carter years there was a "Misery" index as money got tighter, inflation grew, and unemployment rose. all of this will happen, imho. The adaptations currently in place to hide this will fall apart, and the frustration level will increase. the frustration level will tend to push the borderline sane over the edge.
Mr Bush had the luck or intuition to take this hatred, anger and pain and move it overseas. As overseas operations close down, Domestic terrorism seems to be on the rise. Are they related? Who knows. I have spotted and am commenting on an apparent trend.
It would be best if the spin doctors made Mr Obama blameless here, so ignore everything i have said.

more mysterious domestic terrorism,

why do you think more domestic terrorism? were any of the recent (in the last 4 years) anything but the work of mental crazies with guns? I am not sure i see the link with Obama..

Moonhead -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 12:01:03 PM)

Maybe the thing in the Sikh temple was terrorism because the shooter appears to have been one of those hard right militia camp wankers who've been claiming that Andrew MacDonald's "Day Of Retribution" is just a matter of time now that there's an unelected Kenyan in the white house?

You want it both ways...he's corrupt and politically bankrupt with all of the exec. orders he is writing but could have with the proper set of balls...actually legislated all of what the repubs blocked with EO's.

Most EO's are follow-ups from previous orders...few are completely new. You will let me know when Obama becomes the closet Hitler in his EO's will you ?

FEMA was NEVER legislated into existence...created by EO. GITMO...created by EO. Want more ?

Oh, and if the is a 'r' majority in both houses come 2013, I want to see at least 13 vetoes.

Yep, just like you know who.

Moonhead -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 12:04:52 PM)

Something that was done by the Kenyan would be nice. Those had both been around for a while when he was voted in.

Your current President. You know, the chap elements of the right are insisting has no right to be President, because he has a Kenyan birth certificate?

No dear, there are undisputed facts that you should take into consideration when posting your speculations... such as the unemployment.

Higher gas prices, higher unemployment, unless you want to go to work for the IRS, more mysterious domestic terrorism, and it will still all be Bush's fault. THe unemployment numbers will appear to be dropping because more people will give up. Hillary will be embarassed in some way to prevent her run in 2016.

Higher gas prices, higher unemployment, can't define 'mysterious' domestic terrorism, and the problems these issues attempt to suggest...IS CAPITALISM.

When will the American people get smart and read the bold writing everywhere in their lives...America is all about money and a profit...the rest is conversation.

That's why we all pay twice as much for our so-called healthcare (then the rest of the indust. west) and die several years younger...is proof.

That we tax riskers of their money 15% and riskers of their lives 20 to 35%...is even more ?

atursvcMaam -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 12:33:06 PM)

Bush allegedly manipulated gas prices while in office too. Speculate wherever you might like. Mr. Obama's agenda seems to be in favor of cleaner more renewable energy sources. Higher gas prices make that more economically feasible, and palatable. I actually favor more, cleaner energy sources. I would like for the money that I donate in that regard be used in this country, and for businesses that seem to have a viable plan. (Solectra and Fiskers come to mind).
I seem to recall one or two avatars on this site and on these boards with a Sarah targeted fairly early on in her entry to the national poltical scene.
I won't speculate on hate crimes increase or decrease. I see that those in support of the president seem to be very divisive in terms of race, ecomomic status, and success. If I remember correctly the last time everybody was "equal" was 2nd or 3rd grade. afterwards people developed certain skills and abllities the others did not have, be it sports, academic acheivement, social skills, some sood out over the others. I don't think that I want to return to second grade level of equality.

FR
Hilarey is not going to run for the presidency
in 2016. The woman is not a cyborg.

I look forward to your future posts, Rob.
It will be interesting as to how you interpet
the word nice in regards to Obama.[;)]

What the president will do in his second
term will be influenced by what Congress
looks like. He's only one man not an
army of fairy godmothers. There is a list
if dumb dick things he won't do.
The Supreme Court will be safe for
four years. Hopefully, he'll nominate
some new justices who will take their
seat in that august chamber. Not wishing
anything fatal on anybody just some
retirements.

You have my attention, and have piqued my curiosity. I may not be too bright, but unemployment has been over 8 % since Mr. Obama has taken office, has it not? I will stipulate that I have gone from self employed when he started His term to unemployed, and then to employed. My income has dropped by about 50% in that time. Some of that was by choice, I did not want to stay on the dole, and this was the job that was hiring at the moment. Please let me know where the numbers are lying. There seems to be an attempt to spin them so they don't look too bad and adjusts them upward on a weekly basis.

.. then what? Ok, I am wondering what ya'll expect Obama will do if he wins the election.. what promises has he made (this time or last election) that you expect him to be able to keep? what do you think the next 4 years under his leadership will be like? what effect will his continued leadership have on the economy?

What are your expectations and crystal ball predictions? I really want honest opinions.. [:)]

..and there are enough threads about Romney, I dont wanna talk about him, this is a Romney-free thread, k? [:D]

Okay. Note that what you are asking is what he will ATTEMPT and what he will ACCOMPLISH. So things like higher unemployment, gas prices, etc., are IMO out of consideration because he really can't affect them much.

I expect him to continue the same Patriot Act unconstitutional bullshit.
I expect him to keep the same cabinet. Which is a shame because I'd love to see Holder fired.
I expect him to pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq. And the hell with those countries. They can't be stable with us, and they can't be stable without us.
I expect him to go directly to the American people, lobbying for bills that Congress blocks.

Edited to add: I expect that he will groom some bright young Democratic star to be his hand-picked heir. Biden doesn't look Presidential (the only ones wanting him to run are the GOP) and Hillary's getting a bit long in the tooth. Cory Booker would be a dream but I don't think he wants it or has enough national exposure.

I did not say this was caused by Mr Obama. I simply note that this has increased under his watch, and speculated that it would increase under his continued watch. In a very simplistic view, the Colorado event was perpetrated by someone who had received a degree and was unemployed for 3 or 4 years in the hi tech medical field. Just noting details. The Wisconsin Sikh perpetrator was released in less than favorable terms from the military (Tends to kill some job options, but have not seen any info on this at the moment). this fellow was distracted by seving in the military during Mr Bush's term. Back in the day, anyone with Medical training was approached by the Military for service except in RIF(reduction in force) times. As i said, Bush brought most of this craziness overseas by intent or by luck.

He was serving under W? Strange he was discharged in 1998. Maybe you should get the facts straight before making claims.

Winterapple -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/6/2012 1:23:41 PM)

I think Holder will resign after the election.
I doubt Biden will run anymore than Hilary will.
I like Cory Booker and can see him running for
the presidency some day or being a veep choice.
