Allow me to retell MasterJT's view In a Different Manner.

This person has really no idea what he's talking about, and I of course, just like using that clip from Ghostbusters.

Using U6 rates, and the chart that you linked, Bush's last month in office, his highest rate, shows the US at 11.8. In November it jumped to 12.7 went up to 14.2% at inauguration time, and has not dropped below 15% since, according to your source. If you want the simple visual Mr Obama has not dropped out of purple and red since he was sworn in. Not my favorite colors if you ask me. His calim was that unemployment (I will allow his reference was U3) would not go over 8% if TARP passed. I would expect more misleading promises, I don't expect a wave of truthsaying to sweep Washington DC.

11.8?

11.8 was October 2008,,, when do you think he left office?

Try 2009. His policies were still in effect until October 2009.

Your whole post is based upon the wrong year.

The inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States took place on Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Unless you are trying to say we had no President for a year.

I think it would be easier to say we've had no President since January 20, 2009.

We CAN'T get out of this mess/hole quickly, period, and point blank.

President Obama is not GOD, and only GOD can create miracles.

To expect a miracle from any human being is nuts.

To answer your question, I feel that President Obama will CONTINUE to get us out of the hell hole of an economy that he INHERITED, and he will accomplish a lot!

To bad he can't run for a 3rd or 4th term!

[:D]

To keep the car/bus analogy going, once you jump in behind the wheel, the operation becomes your responsibility. It does not matter to the cops, or the guy you ran into that the seat was not adjusted properly, or that the oil/check engine light came on. If you continue from there it becomes your responsibility.

*Health care moves forward, and everyone knows it.
*Businesses get back to business, the uncertainty over health care gone.
*Supreme Court appointments don't go to Conservatives.

well,.. yeah.. health care will become law and in full effect in 2014.. but I am not sure that the Republicans would actually have gotten rid of the health care plan if they won, imo they would likely have made some changes but kept it in place.. thats just my feeling on it (but I think Obama will win this election anyway so imo we will never know)..

its gonna be interesting to see how it works and how much it costs when the dust settles.. especially with the boomers' increasing health care needs..

True, but the uncertainty would linger with Romney.

yes, initially but once his plans were made clear it would disappear.. but the health care plan has been uncertain under Obama since its inception too, with the court challenges and some states fighting it.. but yes once Obama wins again, its a done deal..

No, because remains to be seen whether Romney could do it, continuing the uncertainty. Only a complete Rep. sweep with 60 votes in the Senate would ensure it.

And whether he actually has a plan. Beyond bloating the military further and more unfunded tax cuts, he's yet to articulate anything. It's a shoot from the hip party.

And there's the reality that as people become acquainted with what ACA does and adds, they won't want to lose it. Rep. are going to be forever sorry they enshrined this as Obamacare, and themselves as the bad guys who tried to stop it.

No, I was only meaning he would keep health care but alter it in various ways, not about if he has plans for the rest of it and the economy..
I know its a tad early to say the guy has already lost but imo the guy has already lost.. [:D]
So imo Obama will be re-elected,.. but i dont see much happening under him in the next 4 years.. despite his speeches, there is only so much he (or any Prez) can do about the economy..

mnottertail -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/7/2012 7:26:13 AM)

There was some dark talk about a comment he made:

“This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.”

That is true of  many areas of the presidency.

Of course you have that right atursvcMaam, I listen to right wing/conservative talk radio from time to time, and I get a kick out of calling; Republicans/ those leaning right/and conservatives, "UnAmerican".

Those of us on the Left have heard it for years, so if the shoe fits, anyone can wear the shoe.
If/When President Obama is re-elected, I think many on the Right are going to go berserk.

This may not apply to you at all, but it applies to many on the right these days.

Many on the right seem to be really poor sports, and I am hearing things that sound UnAmerican.

[sm=shame.gif]

Yet it always seems to be Democrat supporters who riot, loot, and burn down neighborhoods... Go figure.[8|]

Obama needs to change his slogan from "Forward" to "Foreclosed".

tj444, we went through something called The Great Depression in America, that ended about 72 years ago.

We entered into another Depression around 2007, the last Depression lasted a good 10 years.

What helped to end the Last Great Depression here in the United States was World War 2, FDR and his "New Deal/Economic Bill of Rights", as well as the creation and the RISE of WELL PAYING manufacturing jobs.

Since we have managed to outsource most of the well paying/manufacturing jobs that were created after the last Depression, common sense will tell you it's going to take a long time to get us out of this one.

Mitt Romney has no magic wand to pull us out of this crap, in fact Romney represents the face of why we have lost millions of jobs in the first place.

What country outsources most of it's well-paying jobs, and then replaces them with low paying service jobs, and expects to be prosperous?
[sm=idea.gif]

We did not dig ourselves into this hole overnight, and we sure as hell are not coming out of it overnight.

Well said, Marini [:)] [sm=goodpost.gif]

Are you recommending entering into WWIII and the reinstatement of the military/industrial complex? Who do you recommend as an adversary to challenge our creative energies and to test our resolve with the ability to back up their challenge?

Also, why would we need to "reinstate" the military-industrial complex? Did it ever go away?

atursvcMaam -> RE: If Obama wins.. (8/7/2012 8:02:26 PM)

My common sense is seeking a solution beyond shrugging my shoulders and saying, "Oh well. Shit happens, sucks to be me" That wasn't the way out of the last depression. Common sense says don't let the depression swallow you up.

according to the response (Marini, i believe) most of the well paying Manufacturing jobs have now been ousourced. A wartime economy brings things back to the homeland from a National Security as well as supply line logistical point of view. This is quite in context. If you don't like the potential conclusion provide alternatives and more hopeful outcomes.
