LOL, as the owner of male cats (both neutered - all my pets are neutered, it's what responsible owners do), cat testicles don't tend to be very large and Hitler tends to be aggressive even to his owner, so chances of the owner getting a good look at the family jewels are not too high, plus they don't cut the whole ball sack off, they just anaesthetize the tom and take the testicles out, over time the ball sack shrinks. Now chances of the crazy neighbour lifting Hitler's tail and having a good look are minimal, as she feeds him outside and can't even touch him. Technically a cat is "owned" if the cat has a collar or a chip, if not then it can be assumed it is a stray. So even if she finds out that her precious is missing his balls, she can ring all the vets and ask around who castrated him... Hmm, well, good luck, a tabby with a bit of white... I'd assume each and every vet in town (5 or 6 large veterinary practises directly in the middle of town, several more of them in the surrounding areas), cats being the most common pet - well, I would assume that every vet has at least a few dozens of cats to castrate every week. Having spoken to my vet and the cat society, they are in favour of castrating cats and even gave me a voucher to have a stray castrated, I won't have an appointment in my name, I plan to pay cash (with the voucher to get a stray castrated it's a whole £5 once the deed is done the cat trap goes to the Cats Protection League as a donation), and the vet agreed that it would be best if I am just bringing a stray in on behalf of the Cats Protection League. Legally I am in the clear anyway unless he is chipped, but in that case the vet suggested that he was found straying in another part of town and it happens on occasion that the cheap reader malfunctions... Additionally, even if she would find out it's me, I'd be more worried what she'd do outside the law than within the law. Castrating is not cruelty to animals, she could claim that his breeding value is now NILL, but good luck showing how much stud fees she'd get for a moggy, and she would have to show that the cat was clearly her property, i.e. chipped and/of collared. Once caught, he'll be back from the vet a few hours later, slightly groggy (I plan to smuggle him into an old shed so he can sleep it off), it will take a while for him to wear the testosterone off that is still in his system. So after a while he'll just be less aggressive and nobody is the wiser. Even if I would agree with killing him (which I don't), chances of being caught would be much higher and also nothing would be won, idiot neighbour would get another male cat that wouldn't be neutered due to her fucked up beliefs and the whole scenario would start again... By neutering him, I'm increasing his life span, because he's less likely to roam and get hit by a car, less likely to die from an infection he got from a cat fight, etc. It's the most humane and practical solution, also the least dangerous one. The trap arrived today but just my luck that it is pouring down with rain and chances that he's out terrorizing everybody are small.
