DaddySatyr -> RE: President Obama Puts Our Money Where His Mouth Is (8/12/2012 7:43:07 PM)

I've never seen any importance to a Vice President candidate other than election swings.

Sure, he's a heartbeat away from having a heartbeat but, other than sending some kind of message to the voters, there's really no importance. I don't feel like looking shit up but I am sure someone referred to the vice president as "The spare tire of government".

There was also Harry Truman (this one I'm pretty sure of) who said: The only real job the vice president has is to wake up ... and say: 'How's the president?'"

The hope is, after you've "sent your message" to the voters by your choice that the vice president will never come into play, again.

I was on different forums four years ago but I remember some of the lefties, there making claims similar to this about Joey Biden. Then, Senator McCain stepped to the plate and chose ... well, we all know how important the vice presidency became at that point.

I ain't buying it. One last unattributed quote. I have no idea who said it but he was asked about being asked to be vice president and his response was: "I do not propose to be buried before I'm dead"

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Nine Vice-Presidents have found themselves suddenly in office--8 by death of the president, 1 by his resignation--out of 47. Those are actually pretty good odds. . . nearly 1 in 5.

Ah, another lie about the Ryan plan

This, however, is real:

Obama Campaign Defends President's $700 Billion Cuts to Medicare...

Musicmystery -> RE: President Obama Puts Our Money Where His Mouth Is (8/12/2012 9:03:26 PM)

The cuts because ACA picks them up?

You think they should be paid for twice?

You Republicans and your Magic Money.

DaddySatyr -> RE: President Obama Puts Our Money Where His Mouth Is (8/12/2012 9:07:52 PM)

That's an awfully short clip but it sounds like ...

"Because we successfully lied our asses off to the American people and the US Supreme Court at the same time and shoved Obamacare down your largely ignorant throats, we're now able to throw a large portion of people off the Medicare rolls and claim it as a 'cut to medicare'. Thanks for being sheeple."

Peace and comfort,

Michael

The magic money morons are the leftists who believe theres a never ending supply of money to buy votes with just bubbling up out of the cesspools under Washington

No one is being thrown off Medicare. What is happening is that the ACA factors in cost containment measures and the restored ability of the federal governments various health programs to negotiate prices.

You mean it doesn't spring from tax cuts?

Like all the jobs those cuts have been creating?

[:D]

Sanity -> RE: President Obama Puts Our Money Where His Mouth Is (8/12/2012 9:43:25 PM)

Tax cuts arent evil mm, theyre simply the means of allowing citizens to to keep some of their own money

Contrary to leftist belief, money doesnt all belong to the government by default, and government can compensate for not seizing its citizens' money by cutting some of the massive waste that can easily be found at all levels of government

Or even by halting the practice of buying votes for sleazebag politicians like Obama through raiding the national treasury

And "all the jobs" were supposed to be materializing from the trillions in Obamas deficit spending

All the government debt...

If government spending created jobs we should be screaming for help by now as opposed to our experiencing the record poverty rates we are seeing under this clown

Musicmystery -> RE: President Obama Puts Our Money Where His Mouth Is (8/12/2012 9:57:17 PM)

Exactly.

1) the tax cuts don't magically pay for things.
2) the tax cuts don't create jobs.

Now you're gettin' it.

Everyone will be thrown off Medicare if we continue down the current road toward bankruptcy. There arent enough rich people to tax to pay for all of Obamas deficit spending

That Romny / Ryan have a plan to save Medicare enrages the left

In their own words

quote:

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan sat down with "Face the Nation" anchor Bob Schieffer in High Point, N.C., on Sunday—their first joint interview since Romney announced Ryan as his running mate.

In the interview, which aired Sunday on "60 Minutes," Romney addressed a Miami Herald headline that suggested Ryan's budget proposal—which would transform Medicare into a voucher system—"could hurt Romney in Florida" and, in turn, the GOP's chances in November.

"There's only one president that I know of in history that robbed Medicare," Romney said. "Seven-hundred-sixteen billion dollars to pay for a new risky program of his own that we call Obamacare."

"What Paul Ryan and I have talked about is saving Medicare, is providing people greater choice in Medicare, making sure it's there for current seniors," Romney said. "No changes, by the way, for current seniors, or those nearing retirement. But looking for young people down the road and saying, 'We're going to give you a bigger choice.' In America, the nature of this country has been giving people more freedom, more choices. That's how we make Medicare work down the road."

"My mom is a Medicare senior in Florida," Ryan, seated to Romney's right, added. "Our point is we need to preserve their benefits, because the government made promises to them that they've organized their retirements around. In order to make sure we can do that, you must reform it for those of us who are younger. And we think these reforms are good reforms that have bipartisan origins. They started from the Clinton commission in the late '90s."

LOL!

In their own words, they don't have a plan, just denials.

MORE tax cuts and MORE military spending, exactly what turned surplus into recession, is the GoBackTeam's plan.

Because they don't know HOW to build, just destroy.

Bush on Steroids. Think Reagan quadrupled the debt? We ain't seen nothing!

Why not let the right fix it again by going into Iran?

I know he's campaigning but the fact that he's talking about choices as opposed to what the government needs to do to get us back on track ...

I never really was behind Governor Romney (and I'm still not, yet). He has my vote because he swore to gut OFailurecare, should he get elected but, I am liking the cut of his campaigning jib.

I wonder, I know it didn't happen in 2008 so has the current failure-in-chief told us what his plan is to put us to rights, this time around?

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Well, the fact that Willard isn't going to be president I think is a good start on that plan.

One can hope...

Mind you that Obama inherited an economy that was fucked up by the wars of the previous POTUS doesn't seem to interest anybody, they expect him to do wonders. He basically is like the surgeon who gets a patient with multiple bullet wounds and in a coma, so he stabilizes the patient and then works on recovery, blame him for not waving a magic wand.

Mittens is a joke who flipflopped on every issue so far. I wonder if you could say "GM alive, Bin Laden dead" if Mitten would have been in the driver's seat, for some odd reason it would be more like "GM dead - sorry workers, ask your parents and children for money, I outsourced all the work to China and Bangladesh.... and anyway who cares about Bin Laden as a leader, we need another war, he is a great excuse..."
