Now Obama is the incumbent President, polling against a republican nominee that could not convince the republican base he was legit, and yet the incumbent President is only leading by 4.1... Who's in trouble here?

Actually, Romney. Obama is in the exact same situation as Bush was in his reelection campaign, and has chosen to follow the same tactic of demolishing his opposition. Just like Bush did when he Swift Boated Kerry, Obama has pulled Romney down with Bain and the tax returns.

Obama will reattack Romney with both, but will attack Ryan in Florida with the push-Granny-off-the-cliff ads.

And to refine what you said, all that matters is the likely voters in the swing states. We know what will happen in Alaska, the South, Idaho, and Utah. We also know what will happen in New York, California, and Oregon. We need to know Florida, Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

In November no one will be talking about Bain Capital. And that stupid commercial with Ryan pushing granny off the cliff actually pissed off senior voters. The liberals here on collarme don't see it, but Obama is in big trouble..

At least one newspaper in Missouri is claiming that they are a "swing state" this time 'round and they have Romney leading by (I think it was) 9 points in a late July poll (28 JUL, I believe).

I think the DNC needs to realize that there are a lot more "swing states" this time than there might usually be. This is not a typical election cycle.

I remember taking a "Oh, well. We'll see" attitude on election night 2008.

I also remember the look on Ofailure's face when he left the Whitehouse that first time after the election. I told people then that I thought he had gotten a big dose of reality; that he had seen just how bad off we were. He looked, actually, "burdened".

The grandiose promises he made have failed to materialize. He can blame Bush all he wants but he assured us he could do better. He couldn't. He failed and now, a bunch of us (even in states that some view as "already democratic") are going to hold his feet to the fire and get him down off the post.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

So why is it only the cons who`re harping on the supposed promise?

Normal folks don`t know what you`re fucking talking about with that......

And why is it Mitten`s begging not to have his business history debated.......

Kinda of a pussy, you`re supporting there.......

Must really suck......

I have always been a huge proponent of pussy, actually.

I'm not the only one "harping on promises". I think the Dems are going to be really surprised by some of the voting results, this time.

I never make predictions on elections because one never knows which way the sheeple will go but I think my current state will wind up going republican, this time.

I am reminded of the over-all attitude when President Carter wound up being a one-term president. To a much lesser degree, he had a habit of blaming Nixon/Ford for the condition the country was in. Four years later, we were even worse off. I see paralells.

The Aforementioned Missouri Poll

What happens if Missouri goes Republican? What happens if Michigan does? What happens if ...

I think the president is screwed as far as re-election goes but I wish him well in his retirement.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Nope. Obama had a lead in the polls a week ago, and Romney upset the applecart. His choice of Ryan has changed the game. Too early yet to see whether the change favors Romney or Obama, but Romney obviously needed to do SOMEthing.

Neither Romney nor Obama is really in trouble. They're about even, and there's almost three months left. Each one has to rely on a convention for bumps, as well.

I mentioned this in an earlier forum, but I can't wait to hear Paul Ryan debate Joe Biden. It  probably won't decide the election, but it will be fun to watch.

Look, Kerry didn't lose thanks to swift boat ads. He lost because he had absolutely no charisma. Obama won because he had charisma and is a likeable fellow if you don't know his politics. The bad part for Obama is everyone is aware of his politics now and know what he's all about.

Obama is going down, there's no doubt about it. You can sense the desperation. Just like McCain said during the 2008 campaign that Obama would say anything to get elected, he will also say anything to get reelected.

I saw a yahoo poll today that said 47% approved of Ryan and thought he would help Romney. About 24% said he would hurt his campaign. 38% didn't know Ryan well enough yet to make a decision.

You throw around that "sheeple" bullshit real often, must be nice walking around feeling so superior and smarter than most everyone else....so much so that you can dismiss them with your little "sheeple" tag.
Now I am loathe to speak for others but it is my guess that the rank and file of these so called "sheeple's" would probably tell you to go fuck yourself were they aware of your elitist attitude...but as I said,I don't like to speak for others, particularly so many un-named others...so the last thing I would do is tell you to go fuck yourself

Unless a miracle happens and the unemployment rate goes down by about half or we drill in Montana and find enough oil to not only supply ourselves but we can compete with the OPEC countries, Ofailure is the one that should be worried.

My mind harkens back to the 1992 race. We kept hearing how bad the economy was until right after the commander-in-heat got elected. It would be a shame if that happened, this time

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Maybe I misread your post but, beginning in 1993, we had a hell of a nice recovery and then prosperity during the ensuing 8 years.
Are you blaming Clinton for that?

Yeah, you mis-read and I mis-typed (sort of)

All during the campaign, we were told how bad the economy was ("It's the economy, stupid") and bombarded with how bad things were.

I distinctly remember news reports about a week after the elections where people were saying (essentially): "Oooooops! Things aren't as bad as we thought. It seems that we're starting on the way back to recovery".

It was absolutely before the commander-in-heat was sworn in.

I was pissed and that's where I realized just how left leaning the media was.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

I was wondering.......no worries.

The economy was shitty during Bush I's last coupla years. We had a recession. then in 89, things started improving and did really well till '01.
Not crediting or blaming anyone, just reporting history.

You have to keep in mind that the true unemployment rate is much higher than the official one & even the official one is still ridiculously high. Almost everyone has a family member or relative who is on food stamps now, unemployed or still living at home.

Do you honestly believe that people are going to put up with Obama another 4 yrs?

I've lived through several recessions in my lifetime and each one only last a few years, 3 at the max. This recesson started in 2006 thanks to free trade, illegal immigration & easy credit & Obama has had almost 4 yrs to do something about all that and hasn't.

Obama didn't save the economy, he prolonged the recovery. It's been 6 yrs people. Get that through your thick head.
