[:D]

A series of new polls has confirmed that, in the wake of his disastrous July, Mitt Romney is losing serious ground to President Obama.

Three polls that were conducted in the first week of August show President Obama leading Romney by seven or more percentage points.

CNN has Obama up 52-45, Reuters/Ipsos has Obama up 49-42, and Fox News has Obama leading 49-40.

All three of these margins are up from previous surveys.

Of course these don't reflect whatever fallout will come from his VP choice. I suspect Romney's numbers will up-tick briefly, but will continue their downward slide once the new car smell wears off, and Ryan gets the thorough looking over he deserves. Any wagers on whether the numbers will continue to slide, or will plummet?

I suspect that the numbers Mittens is really concerned about are those in his tax returns. Which is precisely why he won't make those returns open for public scrutiny.

I can't see any voting population getting enthusiastic about anyone who is far richer than most of them will ever dream about, yet pays a lower tax rate than those less fortunate than The Man in the Magic Underpants. People understand that he can never relate to their needs or problems, that electing Mitt as C-in-C will be the political equivalent of putting the fox in charge of the chickens.

This seems to be one of the prime reasons he is bleeding in the opinion polls.

All true enough, and represent a systemic problem for any political party which draws its philosophy from the fringe, be it economic, religious or political. The thing I find amusing is that even Fox, the Ministry of Propaganda for the far-out Right, is marking Romney down. You'd think they would never publish such damning numbers even if they had to pull something out of their collective asses. It ain't over yet, though.

Meh, 1) They polled registered voters, not likely voters, and 2) they were taken before Romney selected Ryan. 3) RCP has Obama up by 4.1, or a statistical error.

Now Obama is the incumbent President, polling against a republican nominee that could not convince the republican base he was legit, and yet the incumbent President is only leading by 4.1... Who's in trouble here?

Keep pinning all of your hopes and dreams on "Forward", it's going to be awesome watching you guys froth at the mouths in November.

Well those same poll conglomerations have a congressional approval rating of an average 17 percent with 76% plus disapproval rating so I am sure it will be a varied program.

There are plenty of foxes in govt now, on both sides,.. nearly all politicians are for sale, its just voters cant afford them.. or their policies, they are the reason the economy tanked fast, hard and deep.. Obama is no better, he is in bed with the banksters and 1%, despite his speeches..

Imo, it likely wouldnt matter if it was Romney or someone else, the Rs wouldnt win this election regardless of who they put on the ballot.. voters are just gonna hold their nose and vote Obama back in cuz he is the devil they know.. [8|]

You may well be correct. Better a disappointment than a disaster, wouldn't you agree?

Musicmystery -> RE: New Polls Show Romney In Deep Trouble (8/13/2012 8:34:50 AM)

It's going to be a close election. Period.

Romney has chosen Ryan. They're going for the unapologetic "we're the white male conservative guys" and taking their chances.

I think it's a poor choice, but then, if I thought he made good choices, I'd be a supporter. We'll see.

Unless a miracle happens and the unemployment rate goes down by about half or we drill in Montana and find enough oil to not only supply ourselves but we can compete with the OPEC countries, Ofailure is the one that should be worried.

My mind harkens back to the 1992 race. We kept hearing how bad the economy was until right after the commander-in-heat got elected. It would be a shame if that happened, this time [:D]

Peace and comfort,

Michael

When you post a reliable poll of likely voters let me know [;)]

Unfortunately for pollsters, the only way to positively identify "likely voters" is as they walk out of the voting precinct.

Sanity -> RE: New Polls Show Romney In Deep Trouble (8/13/2012 11:22:01 AM)

That may be how it works in some bizarro make believe world somewhere

In reality they simply ask how likely one is to vote

That's why I said "positively".
Unfortunately, people lie to pollsters.
Online polls saying this or that candidate is in trouble are as valuable as the paper they aren't printed on.

Yeah, you mis-read and I mis-typed (sort of)

All during the campaign, we were told how bad the economy was ("It's the economy, stupid") and bombarded with how bad things were.

I distinctly remember news reports about a week after the elections where people were saying (essentially): "Oooooops! Things aren't as bad as we thought. It seems that we're starting on the way back to recovery".

It was absolutely before the commander-in-heat was sworn in.

I was pissed and that's where I realized just how left leaning the media was.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

FR

Obama was chosen by the banks for a second term looooong ago. It's why the Republican Party is trying so hard to prevent Ron Paul from winning the nomination - because he'd kick Obama's ass. It has to be Romney, so that Obama wins a second term.
