Besides using Bushs intensive interrogation intel to track down Osama?

Treasury: U.S. to lose $25 billion on auto bailout

Washington -The Treasury Department says in a new report the government expects to lose more than $25 billion on the $85 billion auto bailout. That's 15 percent higher than its previous forecast.

In a monthly report sent to Congress on Friday, the Obama administration boosted its forecast of expected losses by more than $3.3 billion to almost $25.1 billion, up from $21.7 billion in the last quarterly update.

The report may still underestimate the losses. The report covers predicted losses through May 31, when GM's stock price was $22.20 a share.

On Monday, GM stock fell $0.07, or 0.3 percent, to $20.47. At that price, the government would lose another $850 million on its GM bailout.

The government still holds 500 million shares of GM stock and needs to sell them for about $53 each to recover its entire $49.5 billion bailout. At the current price, the Treasury would lose more than $16 billion on its GM bailout.

The steep decline in GM's stock price has indefinitely delayed the Treasury's sale of its remaining 26 percent stake in GM. No sale will take place before the November election...

I wonder why they do it? People are not stupid. Add just a little spice. Like: ran over trillion dollar budget deficit every single year of his presidency.

my personal favorite is Obama approving unlimited detention without charges.. that originally included Americans but he had to back down on that and exclude them due to bad press & cuz this is an election year.. dont worry tho, he will include Americans again later on... How long before OWSers or any protestors are labeled as "terrorists" and locked up without cause for however long they want? His people already have referred to Assange a "terrorist".. [8|]

You didn't want him to do that?

Anointing himself sole judge, jury and executioner in choosing who, including American citizens, is subject to assassination through the use of drones

Handing large portions of the planet over to radical militant Islam

Its great that your great warrior chief tracked down Osama bin Laden on his own and all, and killed him using only his teeth and fingernails

I was only wondering if he could be slightly more humble about his superman-like heroic efforts

the use of drones

ah, yes.. drones.. they are flying now in the US, not many yet but that is changing fast..

"The aerospace industry forecasts a worldwide deployment of almost 30,000 drones by 2018, with the United States accounting for half of them."

Yes, much like that cheesy photoshop, only with Obamas face

Thought Obama was supposed to make the world instantly love us (REALLY LOVE US!!!) with his world apology tour

Instead he is doubling down on drone technology and indefinite detentions etc

(Hijacking your own thread now, in a desperate attempt to change the subject? [:D])

So, the federal government has so much faith in the economy turning around that they've already decided that they are going to hold onto their investment until after the election?

Would that be so that they can stall for time to decide which way the investment is going to go? I think that is smart business.

The stock market frequently "holds its breath" around presidential election time. People with hope that things will get better, after the election hold off on selling until they can get a better price. Of course, those with hope are actually buying at the same point, thinking they'll make more money when the economy really does get fixed.

The issue here is that all of us, by way of being tax payers, are hoping that GM does well because the federal government has thrown in our lot with them.

I was against the bailout, knowing that it would cause GM to fold and my thought was: "Sometimes, life is tough in the aluminum siding business". Capitalism is based upon the idea(l) that the market (us buying or not buying products based upon our choices) will take care of companies that cease to measure up.

Choice is an interesting word. It's why I highlighted it. You want some solid investment advice? Based upon lack of choice brought to us by President Ofailure, start buying stock in insurance companies.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Obama has deliberately and bitterly divided the country along racial and political lines, and he is hammering away with his hateful class warfare rhetoric thus trying to drive a divide between the classes (in a formerly classless society) for the sole purpose of trying to further his political ambitions

Obama has also given us the longest continuing recession ever, he has tied the all time poverty rate, and with so many on the welfare roles he can honestly be referred to as the food stamp president

His Department of "Justice" has illegally provided narco terrorists with weapons and Obama himself is continuing to stonewall the investigation of the scandal, which resulted in many deaths (despite his previous empty promises of unprecedented openness).

GM stock

I'm always astounded how little people understand about the stock market. Nobody lost anything, except by selling; this is prudent behavior. It's not going down the tubes; it's weathering a difficult European economy, while doing well in the U.S. and prepping for the future:

High costs and falling sales in Europe weighed on General Motors' quarterly profit.

The world's largest car maker earned less than third of what it took in a year earlier, even with a big profit from its bedrock market in North America.

Troubles in Europe hurt the company during the first three months of the year. The region likely has fallen into recession, hit by huge public debts, austerity measures and rising unemployment. And GM's costs in Europe are high because it has too many factories and employees. Union contracts and laws make it difficult to save money by firing workers and shutting down plants.

GM said Thursday it earned $1 billion, or 60 cents per share, in the quarter. That compared with $3.2 billion, or $1.77 per share, a year earlier, when earnings were boosted by the sale of GM's stake in a parts company.

North America clearly is pulling the company along. GM earned a combined $1.7 billion before taxes in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Sales rose by 19,000 vehicles to 703,000, and the company got higher prices for cars and trucks.

But even with that strong performance, GM gave a cautious outlook for North America. It predicted that results from April through September would be similar to the first quarter. That's because it will temporarily close its U.S. pickup truck factories to prep them for a new model that comes out next year.

In Europe, GM lost $256 million before taxes, and it took a $590 million charge due to a change in pension values.

"The U.S. economic recovery, record demand for GM vehicles in China and the global growth of the Chevrolet brand helped deliver solid earnings for General Motors," Dan Akerson, chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "Europe remains a work in progress."

Chief Financial Officer Dan Ammann wouldn't predict when Europe would return to profitability and said there won't be any "big bang" moves to get there. "It's an ongoing set of actions," he said.

GM's struggles in Europe reflect the region's economic troubles. Other automakers, including Ford Motor Co., also are losing money there.

Before you wail about business, learn something about it.

Also note that the U.S. is not in the economic mess Europe is in, despite the EU being our second largest market after NAFTA (China is third).

American cars handle like shit in corners.
Fix that and I will buy a chevy again.

Obama has brought you medicare.
Isnt one victory enough?
Or do you wanna loose trillions of dollars invading the next muslim country?

[;)]

In the end I think americans ows the most dollars to the world cause of their gung ho guncrazy loving mentality.

We would never waste a soldiers life on idle oil.
The end of the oil economy is here right now.

Musicmystery -> RE: So what has Obama done? (8/14/2012 8:51:48 AM)

Hmm.

1) I drive a Toyota (made in an American plant).
2) Johnson brought us Medicare; Obama brought us/is-bringing ACA.
3) Agreed on the guns, and the end of the oil economy, though it will die a long, slow death.

While I live in the Dutch Colony and consequently appreciate that heritage more than most Americans would understand, Holland's reign as a world power ended four centuries ago. Get over it, and enjoy the legal prostitutes, dope, and suicide.
