Tries.... I would guess that one way would be two profiles - one "work" one "play". The "pro" filter would hide the work profile for those that wanted it, but they would still find "play" you.

Then you get accused of being a crook, fake or hiding something when someone finds your "other" profile. It's a no-win scenario and there's no solution that will make everyone, or even the majority, happy.

Why? You can be honest about having another profile and stipulate that the reader look at it, surely?

stef -> RE: Pro Domme Identifier (8/14/2012 4:31:29 PM)

You would think, and yet it happens. Go figure.

i understand your point, and it would be nice. but i think it's problematic to have people identify themselves (via multiple choice drop down lists) as professionals. also, from what i've observed, the Pro's make it pretty clear that they are doing this for a living.

Read. Say, "Oh." Hit the hide key. Move on.

I am a bit frustrated with the way the search is set up.
There is no option to eliminate Pro Dommes from the search results.
Now, I'm not going on a rant about anything other than making it its own category so persons seeking a Domme for a relationship can focus on what I'll refer to as "Lifestyle Dommes" for lack of a better term.
It would just help narrow the search for people who are seeking either one.

FAIL.

MissImmortalPain: I would like to point out that no one answered my question (they never do) and that it actually was on topic.

Tries.... I would guess that one way would be two profiles - one "work" one "play". The "pro" filter would hide the work profile for those that wanted it, but they would still find "play" you.

Alternatively, a profile mentioning both would probably exclude you given the simple searches availale here. A shame, but no system is perfect.

they would have to drop the rule about only having one profile.

I do not believe that you really think everyone should be able to voice their opinion. If you did then you would not have made the other thread. But this statement like all others I make on these boards is just my opinion and anyone who wants to is welcome to ignore it and go one with their day.

And, because I'm just going to keep asking, if a filter were in place to weed out pros then what would happen to those that are like me (both pro and lifestyle) ?

re 1st paragraph...well, i'm telling you what i think/believe. i enjoy open discourse and learning/growing, and plenty of fun/snark/whatever. my old signature used to say something to the effect of "if you show me i'm wrong, then i've learned something new". i.e., it's great to hear different or opposing POVs - i do love that.

it's your choice, to believe me, or call me a liar.

re the filter - the truth is, it would be easy to implement software-wise. it probably doesn't even require a code change, and options can be added to existing drop downs via admin. i've been on many projects where we did exactly that (and much more).

You are correct here.

-------

As for the thread:

Pro Dommes tend to be young, hot, and post intriguing pictures. Because CM is in the attention business (its not free and altruistic), it wants as many eyeballs as it can attract to its content. Filters for Pro's or marrieds might serve to decrease traffic, whereas the user burden to sort out who is who requires a low bar of effort.

The other fact behind the OP's post is the shortage of life style Femdoms. Malesubs have a more difficult task of finding a partner than anyone else in the scene, so its no surprise certain frustrations appear regularly on the CMMB.

Lastly, a filter eliminating PRO Doms would not make the OP's search for a partner any easier, only an increase in the number of life-style femdoms would.CM is really not a fault, its the dating marketplace. The shortage of partners is the precise reason for the abundance of PROs.

I thought LP's sig line was what Karm has on his sig line, either that or I woke up waaaaaay too early this morning.

On topic: OP, if you are even still here....Frosted Flake gave the best advice. Most Pros I know say upfront what they are about. Just hide and continue to search.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Pro Domme Identifier (8/14/2012 8:51:21 PM)

About that one profile thing. I have had more than one profile here before and yes people when told to read both do accuse others of being liars, con artists, etcs. The other profile is now gone for this reason. The reason the whole idea bothers me is because I am a pro but I am not here looking for clients. Read that carefully....I am not looking, but I get offers anyway. For every man that gets on and says he wishs pros weren't allowed here there are just as many that hit up lifestyle dommes for pro work. What would collarme do about those guys. I hate to say this but who reallly thinks it is supposed to be easy finding a mate. If you feel sorry for all the wonderful guys that are looking for a real realationship trade places with me for a second and find me one of those wonderful guys that ....isn't going to get offended by my job. Is going to give me credit for being something other than a hooker (because I'm not one) Is going to want to talk about something other than kink when he finds out that is what I do for a living. etc. etc. etc. Life is hard. Finding a long term mate is hard. That is how things work the web is not going to just make it easy.

(this is not pointed at you Karmastic but at all those boys that think a web site should do their work for them)

If you want an easy button go to Staples. Everything else in life worth having is worth the work it takes to get it.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Pro Domme Identifier (8/14/2012 8:55:05 PM)

You seem like an intelligent man, Karmastic so I will not get into the fact that I did not call you a liar. I think that like most people you believe there are times when an opinion should be kept to ones self. I just happen to think you apply that line of thinking to others more than you do yourself.

Until that option becomes available, if it ever does, perhaps you can narrow your search a bit more by including
Lifestyle in the Keyword section of the search box. I can't imagine many Pro Dommes having that word in their
profile, except for those occassions where one is both Lifestyle and Pro Domme, like our lovely MissImmortalPain.

I vote for that! And since presumably all these categories would be self identifying, how would we get people to use them again?

It was supposed to be a joke to show how impossible regulating who joins would be. smiles
