This is from The Onion.  This is extremely funny, and also speaks much truth.

Admit It, I Scare The Ever-Loving Shit Out Of You, Don't I?
quote:

By Paul Ryan

When Mitt Romney selected me as his running mate, I knew the Democratic attack dogs would come out in full force. They would say I’m a right-wing ideologue. They would say my views on entitlement programs are far too radical. They would say putting me on the ticket immediately kills Mitt Romney’s chances of becoming president because I’m a liability. But if we’re being honest with each other—if we’re able to put aside the talking points for a few minutes and say what we’re all actually thinking and feeling—I believe we can acknowledge the real truth here.

I’m young, I’m handsome, I’m smart, and I’m articulate. And that scares the ever-loving shit out of you. You can pretend like you have this thing in the bag, but you know good goddamn well that this race just got real interesting, real fast.

It’s okay to admit it. You’re frightened to death of me. It might actually be healthy for you to face your fears now rather than later, when Mitt and I are leading by a few points in the polls and it looks like this thing might end badly for you. Face it: I’m not some catastrophe waiting to happen, like a Sarah Palin or a Dan Quayle. On the contrary, you have the exact opposite fear. I’m a solid, competent, some might say exceptional, politician.

Except for the scared thing, I actually agree.

When the Ryan Plan polled so badly, people had trouble believing it was actually real. With a charismatic speaker behind it, people listen less to the facts.

It worked for Obama, didn't it, Muse?

And Ryan can do it without a teleprompter.

Maybe there should be an Obama/Ryan budget debate ? No teleprompters allowed.

Yup.

"It's just that simple." People wanted to hear that. No more complicated stuff!

We'll just borrow the money -- it will all come trickling back.

Magic money. Even Dole and Bush ridiculed it.

Hey!  Get a room, you two!

The subject is the satire piece, spelling out some very clear reasons for the Democrats to be afraid of the Ryan factor coming into the election.

Way to highlight the liberal love of authoritarianism, Muse...

Let's get back to your Reagan reference, though.  Not even The Onion went into that comparison.  I don't think Ryan has quite the natural gift for communication that Reagan carried, but he's much better at math, and more importantly, talking math to the non-mathematically inclined.

Have you viewed the video of him calling the President out on the double-counting, during the Obamacare "debate?"

Isn't Romney--who seems to be distancing himself from the heart of Ryan's budget--the head of the ticket?

At the risk of robbing you of a favorite right-wing meme, have teleprompters ever been allowed in debates?

Happily, the nightmare ended, and I woke up laughing:

Not my worst nightmare, but if I was a senior in the US, relying on Medicare for my healthcare needs, it could very well be a different story.
