i see new profiles on the other side constantly with reference to 50sog. now my playmate has the word gray in his username, but it is meant entirely as the colour and not the book. however, were i to be in the market for someone else i wouldn't take a second glance at anyone with reference to the books in their name. i'm not ever sure why so many people would think that they would be taken seriously naming themselves in r/l after a fiction book. were it to be myself in their position it would be the last thing i'd do. needles

I might be totally off on this, but I don't see you owning too many fuzzy handcuffs. You strike me more as the guy with lots of beautiful sharp objects, and the willingness to use them.

The way I got into BDSM was by reading a few raunchy novels that sparked my imagination. If it wasn't for those novels perhaps I would never of come down this line and just remained an unhappy and discontented housewife! I had very set ideas about what I wanted and about what I needed (obviously based on my very erotic fantasies). Given time, those ideas and fantasies evolved and grew. I spent a lot of time DMing in a large fetish club. The club was mainly about dance/rave and spectacular and bizarre performances. It was about dressing up in latex and looking absolutely fabulous!'. In the corner of this club is a small dungeon where the more adventurous venture, or those just needing a break from the over crowded dance floor. You can hear the giggles of delight as females enter such a place for the first time. Some think its fun to hop on the St Andrews Cross and get their best friend to spank them, others stand wide eyed and fascinated by the whole thing. For many this is the first gateway into BDSM. Its not something they ever gave a lot of thought to before or perhaps they did but never dare mention it. You start to see some of those once giggly women entering the more serious BDSM clubs at later dates. I haven't read this book but after watching a recent documentary I had to smile. Its selling in record numbers, in fact in the UK its the best selling book of all time and I for one think that is really exciting. What we do is suddenly more acceptable or at least its more widely and openly discussed. Ebay (at least in the UK) had rules about not selling BDSM equipment. Today ebay is suddenly full of every BDSM gadget you could care to get your hands on. This is not only business responding to demand but also a perception on behalf of the business that what was unacceptable is now acceptable. Whilst it may all feel a bit soft and fluffy to us and I do believe that some BDSMers are feeling quite threatened by this sudden huge influx of interest. They see more people coming onto the scene as a threat. If it gets people reading more about BDSM then I personally believe that's a very good thing.

Well, that cinches it for sure. I just got back from Fet where I checked out the profiles in my local area. Apparently there is a massive hot bed of BDSM activity here I was totally unaware of. Tons of fresh meat with 90 day histories or less and they all have incredibly complex relationships. Some belong to several "houses" and other have a dozen Masters and various lovers. A-fucking-mazing. There are some leather families so huge I coudln't bear to scroll down the list that went off the page. But I never heard of any of them in real life. What a fucking hoot. Maybe that explains why the Woodshed dungeon in Orlando was jam packed with solo pussy all lined up for spankings and scenes with the TOPs. Seriously, I never been to a dungeon where the single solo sub fems outnumbered the men by 3 to 1 or more. I was joking with samdarella that we could have gone shopping for a harem up in that place. I didn't have to live through the internet revolution. I was completely ignorant to those who were using the net for their fantasies. Once I got to know some old time leather folk, I heard of it. The same will happen. Tourists with little or knowledge will be entering our clubs and venues. People will get hurt, as they did in the last/current generation. They read things on the net, so they must be true. E.B. Webb has been quoted for saying people will believe everything they see in print. It's hard to deny. We've already had a few who see that book as gospel. How many more are there out there?
