The Dems are history then arent they

Social Security and Medicare are fast going broke. The entire federal government is fast going broke - and only the Republicans are offering solutions, while Dems are the magic money party of "no" budgets "no' answers and "no" leadership

If you want divisiveness though, Dems are da bomb

Straight to the low road

Just guessing here but... You must be an Obama person

You certainly are a gullible little fucker.

And as usual, you read the titles and miss that they don't quote the content.

The sad part is that Ike's 'negligible and stupid splinter group' is no longer 'negligible' - evidence 'sanity' et al. We should have learned back then that Radicals are like cockroaches - the only way to get rid of them is to break the breeding cycle. Now we're faced with the ugly choice of fascism or civil war (or both).

Which is "radical" - living within our means? Or continuing to spend trillions we dont have, thus ensuring our eventual ruin.

LanaDeVille -> RE: If Eisenhower could only repeat this now . . . (8/19/2012 9:18:22 PM)

While most of the Youtube comments on that video are racist tripe, at least one was decent. I think *certain* people really need to read this. I don't see how anyone with any inkling of intellect could take her words out of context.

"I can't stand Obama, but I must take issue with the interpretation of this woman's words. What she meant, I think, was that she would no longer have to *worry* about how to find the money to pay her mortgage or for gas. That doesn't mean she was expecting money *from* Obama for these things; it's clear, instead, that she believed Obama would put in place conditions that would enable her to earn a better living and, this, pay for those things. But we know his solutions were and are highly flawed."

Edit: This one is pretty good too.

"The woman in this video could just as easily be referring to Obama taking care of the economy enough that gas prices will go down and mortgages will be manageable. Obama is clearly a puppet but you guys are looking to make an idiot out of this woman instead of giving her the benefit of the doubt. There are definitely examples of obama-idiocy but it isn't clear that this is one of them."

A difference of political opinion I can handle, but straight idiocy, I can't. Why can't more people be like these two people?

That would have been nice, instead of unfunded tax cuts trashing the surplus and starting unfunded wars to add billions to structural military spending continually.

"WE cut our revenue, raised spending, and now we can't afford it!" Ya think? Magic money morons. "Hey! Let's cut taxes further, and increase military spending some more! And invade Iran! Then the budget will be balanced!" Ike is right. Stupid.

But Ike is talking about far more than budgets. And he saw the cancer rising.

Sanity -> RE: If Eisenhower could only repeat this now . . . (8/20/2012 5:34:13 AM)

It would be nice presently

And I doubt Ike foresaw healthy people packing the Social Security roles.

Or the retiring boomers breaking the "self-sustaining" system

Or politicians raiding the programs, like when Obama robbed billions from Medicaid to help hide the cost of Obamacare

When a family can't make ends meet they don't solve the problem by diminishing their income. The Bush tax cuts were pretty stupid.

I know a family, a couple, who kept partying after when their income was downsized in the recession. They went from owning two nice houses to two foreclosures and living in a cheap rental on the bad side of town, to divorce and everything scattered to the wind

They didnt sell a home, or give up premium cable at any point, or stop the flow of the expensive liquors or steaks or throwing big parties with all their friends...

OR look for another job until it was too late

And vince - Obama extended the Bush tax cuts, telling Americans you dont raise taxes in a recession

Which there is wisdom to that. Allowing job creators to keep more capital is just smart, especially during hard times

If there were any truth to that I am sure we would have been hearing about it on the national stage by now

Wouldn't that depend upon whether they are creating jobs here or overseas?

Sanity -> RE: If Eisenhower could only repeat this now . . . (8/20/2012 6:34:57 AM)

I am sure that much higher tax rates will bring those manufacturing jobs just running back too

What would be Ikes reaction to the news that China is ignoring our patents and copyrights and is flooding us with cheap goods to the point we dont have near the income base to support our bloated welfare state

I like how you totally ignore a simple yes/no question. Afraid to answer it?

As for your question, I'd say that Ike's reaction to the actions of the Chinese would closely parallel his reaction to the American industrialists who have abandoned their country and enabled the Chinese to do just exactly what you are saying they do.
He damn sure wouldn't reward em with tax breaks.

Since the lower ones haven't, you got anything else?

Yeah, didn't think so.

Sanity -> RE: If Eisenhower could only repeat this now . . . (8/20/2012 7:22:01 AM)

Contrary to your... unimaginative, uninformed knee jerk guess there are a number of things that could be done to make America more competitive

Getting rid of Obama, getting Obamas boot off the throat of affordable energy would be the perfect start. Industry needs energy...

There are hundreds of things, literally. Its laughable btw how so many leftists believe that punishing taxes would be an INCENTIVE to bring industry back

You really need to read a newspaper.
