I don't think we, in the lifestyle are more tolerant at all. Ultimately, people are people. We may be more tolerant about intimate acts the majority of the population thinks is deviant behavior, but I haven't seen a trend here to be tolerant about anything else. People who come to an online forum, are generally people who enjoy reading and writing. Those who enjoy reading and writing are more inclined to expect sentences which are not full of typos when spell check sits on the same page the writer is typing on. Who would value what the author of a book said, if it were full of spelling errors and no punctuation? I don't think it's nice to insult someone after reading an incoherent post, but I don't see anything wrong in giving less credibility to a post full of typos, misspelled words, non-capitalization when spell check is a relatively easy thing to use. Does the person not care enough about the reader to bother presenting his thoughts as clearly as possible? In regards to the dyslexic individual one spoke of; sure there are always exceptions, though, this educated person when turning in a thesis paper, or writing in an online forum would likely use spell check prior to submitting it... personal communications/IM, etc. are different than the way you present yourself to the public. A profile, blog, post, etc. which contains my heartfelt thoughts are worthy of presentation in a way which the people reading it can understand what I am saying, whether they agree with it, or not. I would much rather have someone say 'I see what you are saying, and you are wrong', than to have someone think 'who cares what she is saying, all I see is a bunch of grammatical errors'.
