Why arrested? It isn't pedophilia or child molestation. The 17 yr old was over the age of consent in Minnesota. When it comes to sex he was legally an adult.

At that time, the person is an adult. what if? what if? what if? As a state rep, is he in a position of authority? "The age of consent in Minnesota is 16. If the actor is in a position of authority, the age of consent is 18."

https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=609.342 You can run thru 609 altogether but thats the law in MN.

well within 36 months the consent is assumed at 13 and then goes from there it is until 16 at which time it is allie allie in free, 17 and anything. I woulda liked to play skins and shirts with you at 16. You could have been that little deerskin dressed indian maid on the land-o-lakes butter carton, down on her knees and mouth open..... According to police reports, Gauthier admitted to the act. The first-term legislator wasn’t charged in the alleged July 22 encounter because the legal age of consent in Minnesota is 16 and no money was exchanged, according to the St. Louis County attorney’s office. Police say the two had oral sex behind a rest stop pavilion in Duluth after the teen responded to Gauthier’s Craigslist ad looking for a “no strings attached” sex. Thats from the link. Nobody saw him, it was after the fact. The cops, probably having nothing better to do, going to grab a doughnut saw the guys walking back from the pavilion and asked what up G? They filed the report and a city news guy harvested it from the sheets the next day. Or something like that, it could have been bearclaws or bismarks. But something like that.

I find the idea of age of consent being lower than 18 for anyone who is over 21 to be disgusting but, I know one state that lowered the age because they had a ridiculous amount of Stat. rape cases brought (in most cases) by parents that involved 18 year old boys and 17 year old girls (rough ages, obviously).
