Analysis of economic data determines Romney wins the election in November.

quote:

A University of Colorado analysis of state-by-state factors leading to the Electoral College selection of every U.S. president since 1980 forecasts that the 2012 winner will be Mitt Romney.

The key is the economy, say political science professors Kenneth Bickers of CU-Boulder and Michael Berry of CU Denver. Their prediction model stresses economic data from the 50 states and the District of Columbia, including both state and national unemployment figures as well as changes in real per capita income, among other factors.

“Based on our forecasting model, it becomes clear that the president is in electoral trouble,” said Bickers, also director of the CU in DC Internship Program.

According to their analysis, President Barack Obama will win 218 votes in the Electoral College, short of the 270 he needs. And though they chiefly focus on the Electoral College, the political scientists predict Romney will win 52.9 percent of the popular vote to Obama’s 47.1 percent, when considering only the two major political parties.

“For the last eight presidential elections, this model has correctly predicted the winner,” said Berry. “The economy has seen some improvement since President Obama took office. What remains to be seen is whether voters will consider the economy in relative or absolute terms. If it’s the former, the president may receive credit for the economy’s trajectory and win a second term. In the latter case, Romney should pick up a number of states Obama won in 2008.”

That academic bastion of conservatism strikes again.[;)]

Let's see how accurate this computer model is shall we?

It's not accurate at all--it rests on a subjective determination.

So they're "right" no matter which way it goes. Damn, academics has fallen a long way.

Nor does this predict a win, even with Romney benefiting as they postulate.

They have said that they are not using the data from the correct timeframe either, and it will be updated in september.

LOL! How about they load it the day after the election, and see if they're right?

They would be like rassmussen.  So, I am not sure how they wouldn't be sued for copyright infringement.

Yeah, they haven't correctly predicted the last 30 years of elections based on subjective determination[8|]

Kinda hard to add September data to the analysis when we're still in August, even you should understand how a calender works by now otter.

quote:

Election prediction models “suggest that presidential elections are about big things and the stewardship of the national economy,” Bickers said. “It’s not about gaffes, political commercials or day-to-day campaign tactics. I find that heartening for our democracy.”

So without some major change to the economy in the next 2 months Obama is toast.

What will you do with your days when Romney shuts down this site and restricts all porn on your computer? [:D]

Hell, what will any of us do?!

Really, reconsider who you vote for!

Frankly I'm not worried about Romney coming after porn sites, I believe he'll have his hands full undoing the mess the Dems have gotten us into over the last 30 years.

I can vote for Obama, who's total disregard of capitalism is IYO the better choice than a Mormon, or I can choose to vote for the guy who became a successful very rich businessman, who actually understands economics... Hmm who should I pick when the main issue for America is the economy?

Religion doesn't scare me... It shouldn't scare you either.

Yea and 20 of those 30 years were presided over by Republican presidents. Think beyond the stump speech, move beyond the party line - see and critically consider what is actually happening.

Every post I have ever read of yours indicates that you have yet to do this.

Non Judaeo Christian religions tend to scare HELL out of your compatriots on the right tho.

Remember all the foofraw over "Sharia Law in the US". That's a religion too.

I'm confused by this... weren't the Republicans in charge for a good portion of this time?

Oh crikey... is it really 20 of the 30?

Well, to me that would suggest that saying "the mess the dems have got us into over the last 30 years" was... well... in the spirit of being polite... pretty fucking ill-advised.

Musicmystery -> RE: Obama loses in November according to CU (8/23/2012 11:18:51 AM)

Especially since Clinton presided over the longest peacetime expansion in our nation's history.

Destreid -> RE: Obama loses in November according to CU (8/23/2012 11:20:55 AM)

Bull.

The American people can't trust Romney with his Own. Pet. Dog.

He'll never be president.

mnottertail -> RE: Obama loses in November according to CU (8/23/2012 11:21:50 AM)

That was 8 of those years and then we had some of the years where we killed OBL and somali pirates and got Khaddaffi and smaller government, and healthcare reform and....

Congress writes the checks, that's the problem with progressives, your blind to the decisions made by democrats like Frank & Dodd... So let us talk about party lines...[8|]

Bush's economy wasn't that bad until the Dem's took the majority in 07, yeah Bush was a spendaholic, but the spending tripled as soon as the D's took control of Congress.

I admit Bush sucked, and he fought the wrong type of war... I've been saying that since 2004... Where are YOUR posts lambasting any progressives? I've yet to see it in any of your posts.

We'll see in November if America is still buying the snake oil Obama's been peddling.

Still harping about that? How do you feel about Obama eating his dog in Indonesia?

Which probably explains why Congressional approval today is 12%.

Has Bush held any office since 2008?

Since Bush is responsible for his term, shouldn't you hold Obama to the same standards? Ever hear about an eyeborow trimmer?
