Romney and Ryan both come from money...lots of it. They have zero concept of not being able to pay for something they need. I believe most of us have been through a period in our lives when we wondered if we pay for the major car repair will we have enough money for rent or food. Mitt and Paul have NEVER experienced that and therefore it never enters their minds that there are people out there who struggle every day just for the basic necessities.

He DID grow up comfortably, in the sateline area. His family is supposedly prominent.

Ryan came from money? I think you need to read a bit more about the death of his father and his job selling hot dogs.

subrob1967 -> RE: How can anyone like Paul Ryan? (8/24/2012 11:35:23 PM)

So you guys are saying that Ryan should have declined his father's money, and just gave it to the government who stole it in the first place? Did his father not pay into the system? Why the fuck would anyone decline the money his father loaned to the government?

Isn't the they way SS works, you pay into the system until you die or retire, then you get that money back?

Hmmm.. isnt that what medicare does.. people pay in.. and get it back later? Yet so many conservatives now want to dismantle it?

He's the objectivist. Ask him.

If Medicare really worked that way, why is it going broke? The same with SS, why are they quickly becoming insolvent? Perhaps it's because the government is giving benefits to to people who haven't been paying into the system, right?

Perhaps that's why the programs need to be changed, wouldn't you agree? When they run out of money NO ONE gets ANY benefits.

Two reasons, the biggest one being that they are not lockbox programs and the republicans have been robbing them blind by borrow and spend for thirty years instead of letting the money grow.

The next biggest reason is that those folks  are taking money money out of them but we are not paying in at prior agreed to levels, part of all those tax breaks perfect storm coming just after the elections.

It's not. It's that the trillions the U.S. government borrowed from it is coming due, and the government spent the money instead.

I can't understand how anyone can vote for Romney when he picked Ryan as his running mate.

I could if he were taxidermied... Oh and running for a more qualified position... like DOG CATCHER. Or Ayn Rand Clerk at a Public Library.

Hahaha... Perhaps you've heard of a group called the GOP. Back in the last decade.. while they failed to 'privatize' it and make their thieving from the funds invisible, they were successful in converting it to a giant debit card. All under the watchful eye of a guy named George Walker Bush.
THERE now you're up to speed. Let's see if we can go maybe a month or two without you having to repeat the lesson again.

Talk about a war on women... [:(]

"In Ohio, Romney and Ryan target women voters"

Seems to me like a clumsy attempt to gain the female vote.

xBullx -> RE: How can anyone like Paul Ryan? (8/26/2012 7:19:36 AM)

Actually Ryan is the only person in this fight that I do find worthy of my attention. I could give towo shits about his affiliation. He seems responsible, pragmatic and out to see to our survival as a nation. I wish I could pick and choose a President without all the noise from the right or the left. neither side is interested in the liberties of the other.

Folks we're broke. The fact is if we keep on this course none of you will have health care or any other benefits that come from the Gov. Then the money grubbers will be the only ones with health care.

I will say this about this site and others I watch for the rhetoric. Those of you that do nothing but bash the oposition to your persective are only fooling yourselves. Closed minds close doors. We do need the imput of all sides and we need men that think that way.

Apart from Ryan, I'm not sure that any of the rest of these fellows are open to anything apart from ruling over us, defining our lives for us and telling us what is best for us.

Life is only acceptable in volumes of less than 12 ounces, right?

As a person, I don't find Ryan unlikable.

Actually, his likability surpasses Obama, Biden, and Romney. Sadly, his likability is only around 50%.

It's his hypocrisy I don't like. He was adamantly against the stimulus but who had his greedy little hands out as soon as it passed?
He then lied about it.

Hypocrisy is a character trait EMBODIED. And this guy is a "Look you in the eye and lie with a smug smile" brand of hypocrite. I could give a flying fuck if he looked like Tracy Lords... Ethically, he's a bottomless pit.

There's an old Gloucester saying you can still hear in town when some fool at the Crow's Nest or Pratties is strangling on his own argument. "When you're ship's going down, you'll grab anything that floats"

If it were but getting back what one puts in then a private medical savings account would suffice and we'd not be having this discussion. But it's not.

Now let me see... as an American woman*rhetorical*, with her own business, im going to suddenly ignore all the things they want to deny me and my female relatives and future relatives, friends and millions of women just to get a leg up in my business. Nah Im not that selfish, altho I know there are plenty who might buy it.

tazzygirl -> RE: How can anyone like Paul Ryan? (8/26/2012 9:12:50 AM)

Ah and then the money from those that never collect would just be .. given away?

The system is broke and broken, where is the democrat solution for the broken system? Sooner or later you run out of other people's money.

You certainly do especially when you tell a pack of lies so you can start two illegal wars to get your hands on other people's oil.
