Well, probably the most expensive toy I own is a old vintage, institutional green, gyno exam table (they had a pink one too), and I think I only paid $35 bucks for that at Salvation Army, lol.

Mostly I pick up home gym equipment at thrift stores, and modify them with wheel chair parts, etc., I have a couple of real nice, sturdy collapsible benches for horses, they are easy to make, but I like the collapsible ones.

Incline benches offer an interesting variety of positioning options, but the most expensive thing to date was a (slightly) used iGallop, which I paid about $100 bucks for I think.

Greetings

Books, books are amazing for spanking. I remember one steamy night where my butt was made nice and red by a hardcover copy of one of the books in the Riftwar Saga. Any hardcover book will do, and unless you go ballistic you will not harm the book itself.

Wooden spoons are amazing for spanking, they have a thin handle and a paddle like end. Usually you can get these spoons in a craft supply store for only a few dollars, and the best thing about them, they can be painted in whatever design you want.

A former Dom I served showed me his first spanking tool, it was an old belt he had cut the metal bits off, the hand then folded it into a loop and glued it together and then he had wrapped the glued together part with duct tape to make a handle. You can easily find old belts in thrift stores for under a dollar a piece, and you can also make a multiple tail spanker by cutting of the ends of several belts and joining them together and then making a duct tape handle. Old belts are also a good way to make cheap collars and other forms of restraints.

Hardware store chains. I have a collar made from a hardware store chain and a padlock, and they can be cut to any size and are generally far cheaper than buying the same in a kink store. You can also use this on hands and feet, one somewhat long chain and two padlocks, wrap the ends around the sub's feet and secure with the locks and you have a set of cheap foot chains for example.

Fruit make great dildos, both carrots and cucumbers and if you like to stretch squash are cheap and can be used in evil ways to poke your loved one in various bodily openings.

I wish you well

Considering some of us present this class at events, I'm pretty sure the idea didn't come from some other thread that somebody was trying to troll for reactions.

The class that I do on this subject is 90 minutes long and I bring the props so I don't keep a formal list of all of the items. I usually run out of the time allotted before I get to everything. The things that go over best? The fire play and fire cupping kit that will cost less than twenty dollars and will last until the fuel (alcohol) runs out. How cheaply you can make your own wax play candles and what candles you can buy at the dollar store. The ping pong paddle that we used a hot glue gun to adhere fur to one side.

The flogger stand goes over very well in that class. It's an old tripod on the bottom with a lazy susan on top that has two dozen coffee mug hooks screwed underneath. Any toy with a loop on the end can be hung from the hooks, so you can have 24 separate selections to choose from. Know how there's BDSM furniture at parties, but no where to actually put your toys without taking up another station? Don't want to have to keep bending over to get things out of your bag during your scene? That's exactly why I had the guys make this thing. It collapses to travel well and takes up roughly the same amount of space as a bar stool. We had the tripod, so the cost to make it was less than ten dollars and it has gone to plenty of events with Me over the last five years.

Made a fucking machine out of car parts.

nephandi -> RE: BDSM on a budget (8/26/2012 3:05:38 AM)

Greetings

Ah we are talking furniture, well here an age old way of commerce that most can afford come into play, trade. If you have a kink friendly friend who is good with his hands he might build some furniture for you, if you tend to his garden, cook for him or walk his dog. If you have little money find something you can do and trade your skills with someone that can do what you need and that way you can have what you want and not spend any money on it.

Be Well

YAYYYYYY, BDSM is NOT just for rich Elitists and 1%er's

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: BDSM on a budget (8/26/2012 8:41:29 PM)

Just because its homemade don't automatically mean its crape. Some is, some isn't.

It's better to have one well-made thing from The StockRoom than of a pile of home-made crap.

But to play along, Cracker Barrel sells a ping pong paddle thingie for $5 that a lot of people on the web liked, but we found was too thuddy.

OH I think I know the kind of thing you are describing Lady P.. I have one like below but in plastic that folds flat I usually hang mine from a peg,...its a tie/scarf spinner sposedly but I like your tripod idea.

Nice ideas in here, being someone who isn't
really interested in inflicting pain for pains
sake, i've never used anything to elaborate...

Plastic clothes pegs
Belts
One girlfriend had a hand shaped
paddle
Other random stuff that I didn't really like
to much...

I haven't had any highly maso partners
but if I ever did, I'd probably get a kick
outta making the stuff myself.

I'm glad the threads back [:D]

LadyPact -> RE: BDSM on a budget (8/26/2012 10:21:48 PM)

Kind of like it, Lucifyre, but the hooks hang underneath. If I can figure out how to resize the pic, I'll get it up.

What happened to this thread? Why did it die? And what happened to the rich BDSMers thread? Was it nuked by the moderators and why?

Also yes I have to chime in and say definitely home made do not mean cheap or crappy. I have been crafting since I was a little girl, not BDSM equipment mind you, and often what you make yourself can be of far better quality than store bought things.

I wish you all well

Well, I bought them, glued them together, drilled a hole in the handle for a service loop, sanded and stained them.

You "stained" them? Oh, that's nasty.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: BDSM on a budget (8/27/2012 5:14:50 AM)

One of my favorite toys is a set of paint sticks covered in various textures and fabrics, from sand paper to fur.

It goes from ouchie to oooOOOOOie very easily.

Since I have small hands, I made my own vamp gloves by taking a pair of fur lined suede gloves and attaching (self-adhesive) velcro to the tips. A great item, it has fur, suede, and two kinds of ouch.

The chain I have around my bed posts was cut to measure at the hardware store, and then we bought doodads to attach it -- nice thingies that attach with the press of a finger and allow for quick release and tons of flexibility.

Speaking of chain, make your own hogtie with items from the hardware.

Our gear bag has tons of lil hair clips of all sizes, a cheap set of artist's brushes, several small jewelry chains that can be tossed in the freezer, a scrolly wheel I stole from my sewing kit, a dull knife, safety candles, and tens of "fasteners" from every purse I've ever owned. You know? The shoulder strap part with the hook on attachment? You just never know what you want to hook up to what and attach on to what, or at least *I* don't.

Sure, we have the conventional floggers and paddles and crops and rope and bondage tape. But it's the found stuff, the creative stuff, that make our toy bag fun.

UllrsIshtar -> RE: BDSM on a budget (8/27/2012 5:40:57 AM)

Our favorite budget toys are a couple of magnet clamps we found at Dom Depot for less than 2 bucks.
They're not exactly the same as there, but they're kinda like them:

The magnets are actually strong enough to hold nipples, tongue and whatever else you manage to clamp attached to the fridge. Add some handcuffs to keep hands out of the way, and it's a really convenient and fast way to restrain a person in place.

The rich BDSMers thread was killed because it was begun by someone who had been Modbanned and used a sock to sneak back in and troll.

This thread was killed for being "guilty by association"'

Due to my legions of fans (ok, 2 or 3 people) with their "Save Hillie's Thread" campaign, it was resurrected, phoenixlike, from one of the Mod's recycle bin.

Now to post some stuff that got zapped because it was part of a reply to the abovementioned socktroll.

Clamps. You can buy a whole bag of nylon spring clamps from WalMart for about $8. they range in size form about 1" (perfect for nipples) to about 6" Im sure some of you Dommes can figure out where to put one or more of those babies.
I got mine from ABC distributing for about $5 for a whole box of em,

The butt section of an old graphite fishing rod makes a great cane and it even has a nice nonslip cork grip. Im also looking into maybe making custom caned with a cork or vel tex grip using rod blanks. The solid fiberglass ones are really heavy and thuddy (and cheap)

I have a 20+ year old brown belt which has a multitude of uses. It's heavy and thuddy and the balance is such that I can hit a nipple from 3 different directions in just over a second without smacking the breast. It can also double as a leash and be used for breath play, etc but my favorite use for it is to flog the pussy and inner thighs of a sweet sub as she is lying on her back being throat fucked.

How did a BDSM thread come to be moved to off topic?
[sm=whisper.gif]

LadyHibiscus -> RE: BDSM on a budget (8/27/2012 1:43:47 PM)

The thread was accidentally pulled, and got placed here... such is the Wisdom of the MODERATORS!!
