Kree -> RE: Watching what you say (6/15/2006 5:10:45 PM)

I have watched this topic with interest. There seems to be a blind acceptance of poor spelling and grammar similar to everyone at Thanksgiving refusing to look at Grandma when she farts at the table. A number of posts I have read require a Dick Tracy decoder ring to figure out wtf the person is trying to say. One particular person (unnamed) claims to be well educated, with stellar grades, yet she can't spell the simplest words and pluralizing a word properly is beyond her. My question is this: We seem to be expected to accept this unintelligible writing style and look for content... why is it unreasonable to expect someone who posts to respect their audience enough to use proper spelling and grammar? I'm not looking for anything on CM other than intelligent discussion, but if I were, poor spelling and grammar COULD be a deciding factor in a decision regarding meeting someone. To me, the inability to communicate in writing would make me question whether someone could communicate verbally, emotionally, and intellectually. Like I said I'm not looking, but I would imagine that there are people who are looking who feel exactly the same way. Just a thought. (I make typo errors, but it is because I type with three fingers who are watched over by a seeing eye thumb. I DO read what I am posting before sending it into cyber space to look for those typos. Perhaps if people weren't in such a rush to meet their quota of 75 posts per day, they could do the same.)
