Mine is about 4 inches below my shoulder. Once in awhile, I get aggravated and cut it just below my shoulder.

My hair likes to hold water. Even at this length, it takes over 30 minutes with a blow dryer to get it dry. Longer than this and it's just a royal pain in the ass.

I have hair down to my buttcheeks, but honestly I don't understand a lot of the stuff in your OP.

Ponytail Circumference is how thick your ponytail is around just under the elastic.
Pin straight means that my hair do not have any curl to it and is very straight.
Medium coarse mean that my individual hairs is not fine, they are fairly thick but not extremely so.
Your hemline is the end of your hair, a straight hemline means it is cut in one straight line.
That my hair is one length mean that it do not have any layers.
Betty page bangs means short, thick bangs curt straight across the face.
Classic length is your hair reaching where your legs and your butt means, I am a little past that.
If there is any other terms you are wondering about let me know.

quote:

I wear it this long because that's how my husband likes it. I'm a natural redhead, more copper than auburn. I don't really do anything special with it. I don't dye it - red hair doesn't seem to absorb dye very well anyway - I don't use straighteners or curlers and I rarely even blowdry it. Maybe once in a month. I find the longer it is, the easier it is to dry the ends out if you mess with it too much. Luckily it's naturally pretty smooth and straight. I wash it every day/every other day in mild shampoo (I have dry skin also so I avoid really perfumed or strong stuff in general) and... that's about it.

Not using heated stying tools is very wise, that really wear down on long hair.

quote:

It never occurred to me that people measure the circumference of their ponytails! I never knew there were long hair communities either, though I suppose there's everything online.

Yup there are. I recommend the Long Hair Community forums, that is a great forum with allot of interesting people.

I wish you well

LOL I find that if I wear it in a braid when I go out shopping, I whack people a lot when I turn my head.
so now its just a ponytail.... Ive used it as a "flogger" quite often tho, but it does play my neck up something awful after a few minutes

I usually wear my hair in a bun when I go outside as wearing it in a braid it tend to get all over the place, it is a long time since I was able to go out with a ponytail.

I wish you well

I've been growing out my hair (it was pretty short prior) and it now reaches my nipples. I dye it brown (mostly to cover the grays) but am thinking of reddish mahogany (need to get Master's permission). I wear it mostly in one long braid down my back (Master likes to grab and yank it occasionally) unless I'm going on a job interview, then more often than not it is in a sleek chignon at the base of my skull.

That sounds really pretty. Good luck with the growing.

Two years ago i was getting chemo and lost all my hair.

When it started growing in again i tried keeping it short ( ear length). When the Dr said i could color it (it was totally grey), i went with a light brown with a hint of red. That came out similar to my original color.

Now i am letting it grow, just to see what i can do with the different lengths. Today it is a little beyond my shoulders and curls up at the shoulder. It is finally long enough to pull back into a short pony tail, too.

Good luck with growing your hair. I am sure your hair is beautiful and will only get more so as it grows.

Be Well

Mine is to my butt - and silver! Every so often i see someone else with my hair colour with longer hair and have to say "beautiful hair". My mum is a bit disgusted with me - she thinks long hair is for younger women, and its undignified for me to have long hair. Luckily the men in my life have disagreed.

I wash mine with pantene every day, and moisturize every day. No dye, don't blow dry, condition every day, use argan oil on the ends about every week or so, and use a shampoo that takes out the yellowing stuff from my hair a couple of times a week.

I also confess to cutting out split ends when i get bored or have nothing to do. Is an annoying (to others) habit, but good for my hair.

Interestingly, i get a lot of compliaments from strangers on my hair.

I love long silver hair. I think the idea that a woman over 40 or so should have short hair is bullshit if you excuse my language. I think long hair is for anyone who want to have it, no matter the age.

I wish you well

Greetings

Well since only one person have shown pictures and I really want to see pictures I guess I should post some myself, so here we go.

Here is a length shot taken a few months ago. And do not worry I am in a bathing suit so no naughty going on. I just welt my hair would contrast better on skin than against my mostly black clothes.

And here is a length shot with braid waves.

Here is a plain English braid.

This is a vortex bun.

And this is a braided Chinese bun made with rope braids and held with hairsticks.

Now do anyone else have any pictures they want to share?

Now as for my hair care routine. I wash my hair once a week, the day before washing it I oil it with almond oil. I wash my hair with Define shampoo, conditioner and hair cure and I use the hair cure every time. I let my hair air dry, I never use hot styling tools of any kind except my hair dresser blow drying my bangs every now and again but that is like a few times a years. Once my hair is dry I brush it out using a tangle teaser brush and then use bio silk a leave in detangler on it. I use Marrocan oil as often as I can afford when brushing my hair. I give myself daily scalp rubs and also use a scalp massage tool. I dye my hair once every other month. I have my ends trimmed once a year and my bangs trimmed every other month. I also do regular spells ( am Pagan so if you do not believe this will have an effect that is okey.) on my hair to strengthen it and make it grow. I sleep with my hair in a bun or a braid and never leave my home without my hair either in a bun or a braid, usually a bun.

I wish you all well.

My envy of you all is deep.

I used to have thick hair. I've lost about half of it. It's grown out now, but my hair's maximum length is about to my bra line. It's to my shoulderblades now, and eventually I'll cut it back to shoulder length.

I always wanted waist length hair... :/

& hummus would get all over it

I'm going to see how long I can grow my hair.

I had it cut about 8 weeks ago, but it's virtually at my nipple line. Mainly straight, although it can be slightly wavy at times now that I no longer straighten it. I usually get a full head of highlights every 3-6 months. My hair is naturally dark blonde but I have copper blonde, chocolate brown & platinum highlights.

I use Matrix Biolage for coloured hair. It is the most awesome shampoo/conditioner I've ever used. I have a sensitive scalp & hair that easily dries out and this keeps it rather lovely. I wash it every 2-3 days.

my hair reaches my elbows when wet, but is naturally curly/wavey so is somewhat shorter when dry. these days i straighten it as keeping it curled is a pain. when long the weight just pulls out the curl at the top, so it looks like a growing out perm. i have lots of layer in it, and keep it thinned because it gives me headache if not. it used to be all one length, and down to my bum at one time. it's naturally black with alot of red through it. when it gets damp i get ringlets and it instantly curls.

i like hair pulling though so it's great for him to wrap around his fist

for some reason people always want to put their hands in my hair. although it's thick it is very soft as well as having a great shine. my hair is the one thing i'm most proud of on myself. i wash it with polytar shampoo, as anything else strips my scalp, and condition just the ends with pantene.

My hair used to reach the small of my back when wet T.T For now, I need short hair because of my job, but as soon as I can leave my current job I'm growing it long again.

Same here. I used to have waist length hair through college, but when I started working, it was just too long and I never ever wear my hair up or in a ponytail, it is too heavy.

My hair is layered now, so I go twice a week to get it blown out; I cannot do it myself, no way.

But I love my hair, I am really grateful for being a natural redhead.

Maybe, it's spelled that way on purpose? Ooooooh! Wouldn't that be nefarious?

Be that as it may, I like the avatar just as it is and some took offense to my previous avatar.

That is a great colour for you, Fluffy!! Did your hair texture change at all after the chemo? My friend Barb's hair came in all curly, she was like a little sheep! Then it came back to her normal texture.

My hair is now down to my lower back... It took about four years - starting from the length of my shoulders.

My hair is down between my shoulder blades. I won't grow it to the hips again. There is nothing amusing about getting the hair on your head, caught in the zipper of your pants.
