Oh and Oside...ya know with all this free advertising I do, I'm thinking I'll eventually get a pair to add to the collection.

Well keep this up and that advertising is going to pay off... sadly not for expensive shoes. You're talking to the guy who spends all his days volunteering so I'm afraid I'm poverty stricken... which now that I think of it probably makes me a really crappy fin-sub.

Then again, much to my surprise I've come to understand that "volunteer" word is like some sort of catnip to you women so maybe it all works out after all?

edited to add
I'd just like to be a lowly fin-sub please. Anything more upscale would spoil the joke :)

Fine...lowly fin sub. But yes, you had me at volunteer.

Oh and you have to do some donations or volunteering with animals too. I'm all about St Jude and animals.

As much as nurses and doctors love and care for their patients, they don't (generally) bring them home to live with them. As much as a mechanic enjoys working on cars, he doesn't (generally) bring one in his bed. And I'm sure there are many teachers who love their students dearly, but don't want kids of their own. Not everyone wants to bring their work (or even their kink!) home with them. Some like to pick where/when/who/how and why.

You raise some good points here, and I think this is where it gets a bit dicey in some people's minds. Anything is possible in this world. Doctors and nurses have been known to fall in love with and marry their patients. Mechanics may not marry cars, but they might marry one of their customers. It's even been known to happen between teachers and students, even though it's a breach of ethics and against the law.

So, I think it's natural for people to consider that there's always a chance for a closer relationship, but when they're rejected for that, there's the natural hurt feelings, anger, and other emotions which result.

In my mind, it's kind of hard to fathom. I won't get into wordsmithing over "prostitutes" or "sex workers," but whatever one wants to call it, it ostensibly amounts to selling an illusion of intimacy which isn't real. Obviously, there are a lot of men out there ready and willing to buy that illusion, so it's a booming industry. Some men seem to be able to deal with it well enough, but with others, the line between illusion and reality can get a bit blurred. They like the illusion, yet they're pissed off at reality.

I remember at some point, there were pro-dommes who referred to themselves as "sex therapists," which would put them more in the realm of behavioral health, not sex work. If it's therapy, maybe it's covered under insurance.

I believe the intimacy is often very real. Just like between a counselor and a patient, or a teacher and student. But (generally) one must draw a line, and not get overly involved, as it's (generally) not advisable and unprofessional.

I've been gone about a year and a half and I was shocked. I meant to not respond to these, but I can't seem to help myself. (sorry)

I'm glad you did. You seem to have a great view about these things. I hope this thread never dies and we have people (old posters and new posters) who add to it....even if they don't like it. *looks at Ron* ;)

This is a non sequitur. I've never been a pro-domme nor an "amateur" that has required tribute, and still I have enjoyed plenty of kink with plenty of subs in long-term multi-year relationships, without wanting either around me full-time.

At the beginning of this thread you said what you do is 'business' and you said it numerous times. You then went on to call it a kink and whilst I agree its possibly a kink for the male sub, from what was said earlier, it clearly is business for you. Not that I see anything wrong with that. You also said its not your place to pass judgement and you said that on numerous occasions too but then you became very disparaging about other fin Dommes. This only happened once you had solidarity from other regular posters in this group, including me! The trouble is, your points of view are often full of judgement. You have condemned strippers, you have mocked young posters and you have mocked other fin Dommes who don't do it like you do.

On page 13 you say in a roundabout way (and this is not in your words) that you can shrug off anyone who calls you a prostitute and yet here you are 76 pages in still arguing about it.

Anyone who disagrees with you is called a troll or someone who doesn't want to be educated! and you hide those who go against your argument. Some people have made an association with prostitution or sex work and fin Dommes. They have put this whole debate under scrutiny and that was to be expected. You can't have an educational thread if you don't have absolute facts to show for it and because there are no facts to be had, this subject will always remain a debate. by labeling this thread 'Educational' It has allowed counter arguments to be ignored, belittled or treated as trollish type behaviour. The thing is K, what you say can be seen as false or can be seen as fact, its up to the individual who reads it. Its like saying that you give some money to charity and so does that make you a pro Domme? That statement for me was what changed my mind about everything you have so far said on this thread. You see, changing an opinion can be easy but it works both ways.

You can argue and explain as thoroughly as you can about why you are not a sex worker or a prostitute but you can't get frustrated when those people who believe otherwise, tenaciously stick with their views.

If you don't believe you are a prostitute or a sex worker then you need not be affected by what others think because the thoughts in another persons head don't determine what you are.

If you are on these boards touting a business as a fin Domme and you are receiving money for services. It doesn't matter how you look at it, that is the definition of a professional.

In terms of increasing profile, perhaps its not deliberate but there is no doubt the publicity isn't doing you any harm.

I thought you weren't perpetuating anymore.

Ok..let the corrections begin: I do not disparage against fin dommes, I'm disparaging against fin ducks...there is a difference. It's not secret that I do not agree with how they do, as they give real fin dommes a bad taste in others mouths. But what do I always say? To each their own.

Condemned strippers? Maria, pay attention..I am a stripper. Although I prefer the term dancer.

Let me elaborate on what "shrugging off" means. You've often heard me use the saying "to continue to argue with a person who has lost reason, is like administering medicine to the dead"..if, in these arguments the people that we fins are attempting to educate just refuses to accept the FACTS, then I shrug them off. But, if there is a person who might be new to the conversation, again, I defend my stance.

I have no one on hide, at all. Isn't my thing. I don't call people trolls just because they disagree. That would be stupid.
Doesn't want to be educated..yes that's correct. If some one is ignorant to the fact, you try to show them what the fact is. If they refuse that, then they don't want to be educated.
This subject, and I've always said "*FOR ME"*, contains facts because I do not fuck for money, I do not practice any sexual behavior when doing fin Domme. Therefore cannot be labeled prostitute. Period. Fact.

And just as they portray me as something, I can tenaciously disagree.

Thing is Maria, I'm really happy the threads sticks around because if you actually take the time to read mine..you'll see that I have never once drummed up business for myself. I have enough subs.

Ya know, I'm not sure where you're getting these accusations from, but really it's probably best if you find out some things first. It makes your argument look like its running out of steam, meanwhile, I've hardly broken a sweat.

If you choose to continue thinking what you want about me even though I've just given you FACTS about me, then that is your right. Ad I have the right to think you are choosing to remain uneducated and a fool.

Now, are you planning on perpetuating some more?

Nope, and to be honest, were actually waiting to hear an intelligent post on why it's not. So far we have gotten a bunch of butt hurt guys yelling "it's prostitution!" And that's about it.
