another one here with no running problems due to gifs. however, the other side is shocking sometimes with all the advertising.

maybe if you pay to run gifs it doesn't effect the running so much.

Maybe if you paid to be here the distinction would be clearer for you.

needlesandpins -> RE: A gif thread to stop Psycho being banned... (8/31/2012 9:00:10 AM)

no distinction needed. admin/mods are claiming it makes the site run slow. we are saying that from our end it doesn't. there is so much trashy arse, tits and whatever else continually waved in my face on the other side eating up my download, and 'slowing' the site down, but that is ok because it's paid for. what is posted here isn't ok because we are being told it's slowing the site, but i would bet my last penny that if they were paid for there wouldn't be a problem.

the same old shit about 'if you paid' 'well you get it free' crap doesn't wash. it's the same balony that gets thrown about by someone at some point everytime there is a complaint about advertising, or the way we are told we can use the site. it's a cop out remark that is boring. bore off with that rubbish already.

that fact is that without a member base to aim at cm wouldn't get paid advertising. with paid membership the site would lose alot of it's members. it's happened on other sites that were free, are now paid, and now almost dead.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and take a SWAG at it.

That means Scientific Wild Assed Guess.

The Mods have different tools running that aren't on our puters. I'm sitting here with a 5 year old emachines and the GIF's dont slow it down. BUT, I'm not running all that extra super SEEKRIT stuff that the Mods need to use.

I'm guessing the gifs and their "Mod Tools" as one of them put it are showing some incompatibility and slowing their machines to a crawl regardless of the RAM or cache capacity.

This makes for pissed off Mods.

Pissed off Mods = more Gold Letters

This leads to Pissed off Posters

oh? you are privy to something about myself that i am not then? or have you just popped up to try stir crap?

or is that another one of those same old same old blah blah statement that people with nothing better to say come out with about 'if you don't like it leave'? i never could figure out why i'm not allowed a negative opinion if i'm not paying for something. i seriously must remind myself that you can only comment on the things you pay for [8|]

I've not noticed a dif on either side, and find some of the gifs amusing, but have no problem complying wiht the Mods request to not use gifs.

The adverts on the other side don't bother me either. I just ignore them.

firstly i haven't actually posted any gifs

secondly i can state that the gifs are not slowing the site down from MY pov. the note on your tools was only added later, not when it was first stated that gifs shouldn't be posted due to slowing the site. maybe it should be made clearer as to whom things in the site are effecting.

lastly, my question on him being privy to something i am not was at his comment about me leaving the site, not about facts within the thread.

I don't give a fuck what you post. I have more important things to be in charge of.

If you post gifs, when you've been asked not to, that won't fly.

So don't post them. Who the fuck cares?

Or post them and have your hissy fit.

Whatever fills your day, dear.

needlesandpins -> RE: A gif thread to stop Psycho being banned... (8/31/2012 9:37:42 AM)

i haven't posted any gifs. never have. the point was purely about the claim of them slowing the site. and if you don't give a fuck then why keep posting?

again, no hissy fit sweetheart. it's really not worth that much effort.

it's just a little point that you don't like.

Of course it is. You went off about "rubbish" about a simple observation you didn't like.

Then after warning people would leave, you backed way off when offered the door.

If you don't care about posting gifs, then what's your problem?

Hissing and spitting and twisting and turning. For a page now, because you didn't like the simple observation that

paying for an ad indeed has different rules than posting in the forums. And different effects among paid and non-paid sites.

Sorry you don't like it. It happens.

Alpha posted some information the last time this came up. I found two threads regarding animations. You may have to scroll through some bantering to find all of the information:

you seriously need to learn how to read, and the definition of the words you use.

quote:

that fact is that without a member base to aim at cm wouldn't get paid advertising. with paid membership the site would lose alot of it's members. it's happened on other sites that were free, are now paid, and now almost dead.

is exactly what i wrote. there is no threat in there because it is observation, and nothing more. i personally never made a threat to leave, thus can not be backing away from any door.

the point was that if gifs slow down the site fair enough, but it is only cared about on this side. the consideration for slowness, or the amount of download it eats of the members is not bothered about because it's paid for. hence, if the gifs were paid for on this side too then there wouldn't be a problem.

the statement about mod tools was only added later. now i have no problem at all the the site requesting we not do something, but to use a reason that doesn't actually apply will be commented on. the mod tools/machinery being slow is totally different to what was originally stated as the reason for the request.

again, just because something is free doesn't mean you can't comment on it. i run three sites that are totally free for users/members to use. at no point would i tell them not to do something and not expect them to make comments if i'm using a reason that doesn't actually affect them. i welcome their input as it help me run things better for them.

your original comment appears to be aimed at me. if not then try using FR, that way it saves confusion. if it was aimed at me then i'll tell you this; i'll answer to it as i see fit. if you don't want people to comment on your opinions aimed at them then consider whether you should post it.

I don't even know how to post a gif, but nothing is slowed down for me. Whatever. If they say stop posting gifs, just stop it.
