ORIGINAL: VideoAdminGamma I will confirm that it does cause more problems in the topics that have more moving gifs. I did increase the cache of the browser in one test and it helped in that I could do 4 or 5 moderator things before it got slow, instead of just a couple. I got the same behavior on three different browsers and on two different computers with different operating systems. Thanks for being a part of CollarMe, VideoAdminGamma quote:
ORIGINAL: CRYPTICLXVI I think what happened here isn't that gifs are banned per se as much as a couple of us (okay, me) abused using them... when it was pointed out that it was being overdone, I stopped. Okay, I fucking forgot a couple of times but hey, I can blame that on being stubborn or rebellious or just plain fucking forgetful. Shrug, so it has to do with secret special spy vs spy moderator tools and not the board itself. So... I ended up throwing a monkey wrench into the machine. I am not certain why it is a big fucking deal... I fucked up, I stopped, I led psycho astray. Ooops... well what should be happening is that it is redirected by your server only when within the focus or actually on screen. It then would only load once and run resident in memory of who ever is viewing it and your server would like any other pic see no other work load than the initial redirect. Like someone said you have whole margins of titty and cock gifs running on the other side that are resident on the users puters. That said when you go in to edit or whatever it will run resident on your puter. Frankly you would be admitting to having some serious antiques for puters if you cannot run them effortlessly. You should be able to load up a 1000 page plus pdf hit the page down and it should wing through it pasting full pages faster than you can see. If you have that your video is probly ok. If not then spend a lousy 15 bucks and get a elcheapo 8400 nvidia card. If your video is ok and it sounds like you are having cache problems and if you are on a windoze machine for this little shit you shouldnt need more than 2 gig memory, though 4 will give you plenty of headroom, for about a lousy 20 bucks, put 4 gig of ram on it and disable the scratch file. Chi sent this link to me which at first thought was what now trying to insult my intelligence, but now I can see where the problems appear to be. If you have enough ram simply disable the scratch file, and if not you can go on craigs list and pick up pretty much any 150 dollar computer that will probly work fine if you know what you are buying. At least it makes sense now, its not slowing your server down but your personal editing puter down. Anything over 2+gig cpu should wing through this shit like a hot knife butter even with a full page of gifs. Which means your puters would need to be the same vintage as immediately after cm came online. Worst case its about a 40 dollar upgrade but I would bet it just needs to be setup. anything adobe on the other hand (like their resident flv player) is another story. lol Oh and just to cover all the bases........laptops arent real computers btw LOL r1
